With the revised cooling system, so you still plan to run the Gen V engine at the same temp as previous generations? What will the normal range be and fan on point?

The new cooling system has improved efficiency and will provide uniform cooling throughout the engine. The normal range and fan trigger will be optimized in the coming months of development testing.

It was great to see Pirelli reps in NYC. Says a lot.

We learned how to look for the "C-1" designation going back to the 18" Gen 2 Pilot Sports to know they were the Viper Specific model.

Anything to be looking for on the new Pirelli tires or are all of them in this size/model Viper specific?

Look forward to seeing you at VOI-12 this fall.

Marv,

The Pirelli tires for Viper are specific only to the Viper. The rear size, for example, are only the Viper tires.

The front tire size exists in other Pirelli tread patterns, but only Pzero and Pzero Corsa Asimmetrico 2 are the Viper front tires.

Regarding the Na filled Exhaust Valves, can you put it into perspective as to how much heat transfer, or increased temperature tolerance they provide?

What is the main benefit that drove this feature for the Gen V?

thanks,
bb

Brent,

We are able to increase the transient exhaust gas temperature by 75°F and the steady state exhaust gas temperature by 50°F which is quite significant. This allowed a more aggressive fuel and spark calibration (see answer to post #9) for more power.

The changes to the engine suggest that it is significantly more robust. Would it tolerate say 5 pounds of boost assuming it was from an Eaton twin screw supercharger similar to the one the ZL-1 or ZR-1 uses?

Might have missed this, but how does interior space compare to the Gen 3 & Gen 4? Seems a lot of us had to install seat lowering kits. Would be great to have a few more inches of headroom.

On drivesrt under specs the GTS has 4-mode stability/traction control. How closely is it related to Ferrari's?

Any idea when CAAP will open up for us loyalists to take a tour again? As soon as they start building in Q4 or will we have to wait?

Many of our Corvette friend's LS7 engines have eaten their hollow stem valves and were destroyed. What's the risk of this happening on the Gen V engine? I'll assume that the answer is "Low risk" so the natural follow up question is why would the Gen V have a lower risk to this failure than the Corvette LS7?

EZ,

We are using a very similar valve in our new SRT 6.4L Hemi without any issues. The valves have been bullet proof for us! As far as the LS7 issues, we can’t really comment since we are not familiar with their part.

I'm going to order one just like the show car model but with the track pack and glossy black wheels. My wife wants to know if you will be offering a get out of jail and or speeding ticket insurance plan as an option. GTS Bruce

No. But we do include the SRT Track Experience for all new Vipers. Keep it on the track! ;)

What ride/handling changes can be attributed to the change from Michelin to Pirelli tires.

What advantages drove the changes as opposed to the Pilot Super Sports?

We evaluated all our options and the Pirellis offered us everything we were looking for in the new tire.

PR will not allow us to talk about driving impressions, yet, but you will not be disappointed with the Pirellis!

The 2013 Viper SRT seat has a manual and the GTS has a power height adjust. The seat will have more than an inch of downward travel.

Did you consider using an OS Giken differential?

After a quick internet search it seems this is a torque sensing unit that uses only the side gear separating force to apply plate pressure. They advertise up to 28 clutch plates. This seems like a "but ours goes to 11" advertising slogan. A speed sensing diff, like the Visco-Lok, is much better suited to a sports car application.

The ESC is not related to Ferrari's. We did our own thing that we think is right for the Viper. This was a major focus on the new car and we are very happy with where the ESC tuning landed. Like the video says, "It isn't a nanny. It isn't the fun police. It just saves your ass when you are in trouble."

Will we see commercials and a Marketing campaign for the New Beast?

Bruce

This is it!

Just kidding, but don't be looking for any commercials. When was the last time you saw a Ferrari commercial? Working with all of the magazines is a major priority for us (I think we are up to five covers already!) and we are planning on sending the car to events and races around the country.

Is the new car going to be shown at upcoming auto shows in different states?
If yes is Seattle Auto Show one of them? I'd love to see the car in person.

What were the key elements that were deemed mandatory to keep the "Viper" in the Gen 5 design from the get go? Everyone has a favorite Gen and favorite attributes/elements associated with that Gen. Tell us about some hurdles example Clamshell hood.

Is it true that the windshield was carried over from Gen IV? (Just curious!)

Also, heard the doors would be aluminum-- is that true and what is the advantage over other materials such as composites?

SRT Team, why aluminum doors...easy to get door dings, why not carbon fiber? What is the width of the front and rear wheels? Perilli we need a 375 25 19 on this car.
