I have a 1994 RT/10 and my friend has a 1998 RT/10. Neither have any significant modifications except I put Gen 2 wheels on mine (which makes both cars the same) and he has an aftermarket exhaust (can't remember which one). We went to a local truck weigh station just for fun to compare weights. The Gen II weighed in at 3,460 and my Gen 1 weighed in at 3,680. We did the weigh in when we we out of the car. We both had basically the same amount of gas and both tops were off. He even had his top in his trunk and my trunk was empty. He also has a spoiler and I don't. Why would a Gen 1 outweigh a very similar Gen II by 220 pounds? Any ideas? Just curious... :drive:

My '94 was 3740 with me in it. I have lighter seats than stock. Still, the Gen 1 engine is heavier - someone will know the exact amount.

Main differences: heavier engine, somewhat different frame, plus tubular & stamped steel suspension wishbones in the Gen 1.

200 lbs diff, id say your comparison was pretty acurate

From Gen1 to Gen2:
"Weight reduction changes on both platforms reduced weight by 200 pounds; these included an all-aluminum suspension system and re-engineered frame. For GTS, weight reduction was focused in the engine and cooling system, where over 80 pounds were removed.(sorce:allpar)"

Cast Iron exhaust manifolds on Gen 1, tubing headers on Gen 2. If you buddy installed aftermarket exhaust that probably included lighter weight Cats as well.

I have a set of Gen 2 stock headers and flex pipe for sale (PM if interested).

My 97 GTS weighed 3333lbs without me. Can't remember if I had the Corsa exhaust on it which was heavier than stock, but I think I did.

My Gen1 weighed in on corner balance scales at 3550 with a full tank of gas & no driver. This was with the following mods:

ROE SC
Edelbrock Headers
ROE 3" exhaust
RonDavis Radiator
Purner CCW 17" rims (12.5" front & 13" rear)
Kumho V700 315's in front & 335's in back
Aldan shocks and springs
Poly bushings all around

Funny, just weighed my car at the track today I weighed in at 3630 with my fat *** in it. 3630 -240pds fat guy = 3390. That with a 3/4 tank of gas, top on, spare in the trunk, Kumho v700s on chromed rims, no cats or mufflers (that helped) and even a few tools in the trunk.

I have a 2000 Brochure that shows the GTS at 3,460 and ACR at 3,356. I wonder where it gained the 133 pounds since '96?
