Anyone know the weight of the stock wheels?

I'm considering going with a lighter wheel, (Forgelines) and am wondering how much weight I might save.

Am also curious if there is a substantial weight savings if I go with regular Michelin PS as opposed to ZP runflats.

The above link answers most of your questions. I would really consider light weight wheels, but make sure the manufactor knows exactly what they weigh.

If you get rid of the runflats, you can go to the extreme light weight wheels, not so if you leave the runflats on, as they require a very heavy duty wheel, due to the ultra stiff sidewalls. You can damage light weight wheels when running a runflat.

SSR comps are a very nice choice.

Thanks

So, to summarize the previous thread:

stock rear wheel is 30 pounds
OEM runflat rear tire is 42 pounds (The difference between Skip's 72 pound OEM total and SCLSSRT10's 66 pound total with non-runflats.)
Pilot Sport non-runflat rear tire is 36 pounds
Total stock runflat tire and oem rear wheel is 72 pounds

Total stock runflat tire and oem front wheel is 62 pounds

So . . .
According to Partsrack, the Forgeline VR1 wheels are 19.5 lbs for the fronts, 22.5 lbs for the rears. With an 18 inch rear, you can probably take off another pound.
It looks like by going to Forgeline wheels and non-runflat tires, I can save some weight (I'm making some guesses about the front wheels and tires, as I don't have any information):

2 x rear wheels (VR1 vs OEM) = 16 pounds
2 x front wheels (VR1 vs OEM)= ?12 pounds?
2 x rear tires (non runflats) = 12 pounds
2 x front tires (non runflats) = ?8 pounds?

Total weight savings from going to 18 inch Forgelines and non-runflat tires is about 48 pounds of unsprung weight.

Kai, the wheel is much more than tire on the rear. The 72lb. number is with a new tire. The SSR Comp wheels are 19.5 each. but a 22.5 13 wide rear is great.

Now you'l have to go with a set of my all aluminum/steel clad rotors, soon to be released, and save 50 MORE POUNDS!!

I did do a total on everything and it will be for me, well over 100 pounds at the wheels.

Glad to see someone, wanting to lighten up this steam roller assembly. Counting the rotors, this car has the heaviest rolling assembly of any car on the planet, ever.

Only a pickup truck with oversize tires would be worse. Do some math on rotational weight factors and it's a downright sin to run this much weight on a sport car.
