He does have a point though, one of the reasons I hate the Nurburgring track
times is that they are so wishy-washy. Technically speaking a different brand
of tire modifieds the vehicle from stock. Also a running start gives advantages
to specific types of car at different points (which is probably why all these
record claims start/stop point is different.) And lets face it - Veyron, Radical,
Gumbert, and ACRX aren't exactly what I would consider production models.
The Ring is fun for conversation, but I would never consider a lap time as
definitive proof of a cars ability. Way too many factors, way too few rules for
it to be a scientific standard.
