I assume you mean the body panels... Plastic injected molding... I am sure that is not the best answer and might even be incorrect.

I believe at first it was made from RTM then it went to SMC a few years later or was it the other way around??? I gotta ask my friend who worked for the supplier that made the panels.

Actually it's not plastic it's fiberglass.

The reason why they went to SMC is because they couldn't hold the dimensions of the RTM hence the high scrap rate of the gen I hoods.

So, it is made of fiberglass or some other things like puppy dog tails, but non of them will rust. Why are you afraid to drive it in rain :)

NOt in rain? Because I don't want some as* to spin out and hit me.
Fiberglass, when inpregneted with resin, is plastic, & is used for it's flexability & strengh, if laid up the right way. I'd be interested in how the panels are made. Hey, that'd be a great tour to take.
