brought the snake to about 6200 RPMs or so today (keeping up with those new york vipers) and it sounded like my car got electrocuted (sp?)....made like a zapping sound. loud. is this what happens? never brought it that high before...always would shift around 5500 when i got on it.
is there a sound that goes along with it or does it just shut off?...just wanna make sure shes still healthy :D thanks-

There is absolutely no reason for 6200RPM.
My dyno showed a drastic dropoff in HP and TQ after 5000.
If you want to keep up with the NY Vipers, change at 5000.

Unless its for show??? :headbang:

Back in the day when I had a '94RT/10...shift points of 5500-5600 were often suggested for Gen1s.

Depends on your mods. My Gen2 creampuff is pulling hard and strong to 6000+rpm.
Now that I've 'fixed it'.

Shuts off and then coughs like an old chain smoker. Only kidding about the chain smoker just shuts off.

I heard of a guy who found out in his Gen 2 Car at 6200+ RPM near 203 MPH that the fuel just cuts off. Nothing else happens.

Sounds definitely like a shut off, even if I've never been that high. I pulled also to 6200 on dyno, but if you dyno your car you will see where the power drops off. I thought too that reving it to 6000 "felt" powerful, until I saw dyno sheets….

Max HP power at 5000 even.
Max TQ at 3600 !!
Dropped off -187 TQ and -85HP at 6000.

Still wanna rew it to 6200?
And mine is a healthy one too.

My point was that it does not much, except lots of noise, between 5500-6200. Thats unless someone can show a dynosheet with mostly stock Gen 1 thats different?
With a set of good heads and cam, its a different story!

When you hit it the first time, chances are you'll never forget it! sounds like you pulled the plug on it...kills the engine immediately. not sure but I think it's a fuel cut off, not electrical. kind of scarey when you do it.
