What would you pay for an \'08 King of the Hill Viper?

While we all patiently wait...

Lets assume the new Viper is back on top (0-60, 1/4 mile and top speed), 600+ base HP, similar looks, slightly less weight, better performance with a warranty and limited production (less than 1,000 units).

What would you be willing to pay?

That car should be worth $95,000-$100,000. However if GM releases this blue devil corvette 650hp @ 2900 lbs for the $100,000 that it is rumored to be, the viper may not be as desireable for the same price.

I say let DCX release an ACR to answer to the blue devel.

08 I think I'd still need to buy 2nd hand. But I'll buy reguardless.

Really? According to some people, the only reason you'd not have a gen3 is because you can't afford one.

Let's hope the outrageous comes back to the Viper in EVERY way.

Just adding HP won't do it for me. Has to be more to it.

Otherwise, there is no reason to buy another Viper. I'd much rather send one to Heffner, and double that HP.

That's just my opinion, but I doubt I'm alone on this.

If the 08 has not only HP increase to 650, but also forged pistons, quaife diff., and Motons, I would go 95-100K. That would be a great platform to enjoy the "king of the hill" status it would provide and the ability to easily modify when the itch prevails. I'm ready to buy - just waiting to see what the 08 provides so I can make the decision which car to purchase.

Having placed a deposit with Bill P. I was looking at a sticker around 100k. Having said that I was hoping for a considerable step up form the current Coupe. It looks as though that might still be some time off.....
A VOI9 coupe with a Paxton is looking very good right now.

I've talked to Bill about the possibility of the voi9 w/ paxton also - I think that would be a great option. I wonder how far the dealers will come down on the VOI9 coupes, even though lim. 100 production... Sticker of $91k, I believe $5k off would be easy, possibly more...?

Re: What would you pay for an \'08 King of the Hill Viper?

gen4 needs a style change back to RAW Beauty.

when i saw the comp coupe i had huge hopes that the coupe would follow the same style. didnt happen & i didnt buy a gen3.

the gen3 coupe looks good, but not 100k good. i rather see everyone buy a 99 gen2 for 50, spend 50 on a TT, suspension, & brakes and have the fastest AND most beautiful car made.

If the Gen4 was styled like the comp coupe or gen2 & they upped the power to 655 N/A, i think 155,000 would be a steal on the sticker.

I would buy it for whatever the price is as long as Dodge wouldn't flood the market with them...

Sorry....70k is the limit. It is a battle between the Z06 and the new Viper. Battle lines have been set. Not going to spend 25k more for a car that is equivalent or marginally faster.

If the difference between the cars on the street is going to be which car happens to have less fuel in the tank and therefore less weight, not many are going to pony up the extra money. Unless, of course, the Viper is an absolutely knock-out looking car. Right now, the Gen III is not providing that advantage.

Maybe you should look at the gen III again. It brings a smile to MY face every time I see one.

The GTS is one of the beautiful car of it's time, but time is moving on. IMO

I agree with you that the Gen III is a knockout car. And, strangely, when it is positioned next to a Gen II, it compares quite nicely. I like the Gen III headlamps better than Gen II. More aggressive. Nice.

The time/place that the Gen II exceeds the Gen III is when it is positioned out on its own. The curves.....The car has a nice stance on its own. The rear spoiler from the side, throwing the wind.....It is ****. It looks like it is going 100 mph standing still.

Snakes have CURVES....not straight lines.

You don't have to tell me. I don't think any color showed off the lines of a GTS better than the 2000 steel gray. IMO:)

I should be more extroverted and show you the Sapphire Blue....it might change your mind. :)

Could never find one in your color when I was looking for a deal. Tough one. It was on the short list for purchase.

Re: What would you pay for an \'08 King of the Hill Viper?

Warfang I was just recently at Tator's for some work. The work was impecable. No one gave gen III cars that were there a second look and that is unfortunate to the extreme.Offer someone a used gen II or a brand new gen III and guess which one they will choose.I made my choice accordingly and have handling, power and brakes that will exceed a gen III car as many others have done. Will we get all our money out of it?Nope and we don't care.On the way home stopping at a rest area in remote southern NY state to take a leak guys pulled it to take a look,Recommended to spouses and kids that they observe the rare Viper.Yep some of them had whiter hair and were older than I.Some younger guys with kids.Like I said I would have gotten a gen III that had the looks of the comp coupe in a minute. The gen III cars are great cars.Too bad they don't make your blood boil and the crowds smile. I absolutely agree!!!

Some may prefer the GenIIs but I didn't even think of owning a Viper until the Full Convertible GenIIIs were created....

I agree that multiple things are needed: more power, more raw beauty, less weight--a clear statement that the Viper is back.

I'd go 100K for that.
