Wheel Refinishing

I recently had a couple of Apes at a tire shop scratch my wheels in the balancing process. They are polished aluminum with clear coat. Is there a technique for spot repairs of the scratches or does the whole wheel need stripping and refinishing? Does anyone know of a service in the DFW area that caters to the public? Thanks

If the scratches did not go all the way through the clear coat, they can probably be cleaned up. If the scrathes go through the clear coat onto the aluminum wheel surface, the only way to make them look right will be to re-finish the wheel.

I hope you're making the tire shop pay for the rim to be refinished. I did when it happerned to me as I pre-warned them that if they scratched they'd pay!

Agree 100%. Before I had my old set done I had tried everything and the only way they came out looking new was to have them refinished. I was still not satisfied with the polished wheels and switched to Chrome. They look a lot better and the shine is unsurpassed! Best part is, it costs just a bit more to have them chromed versus refinishing.

I agree with F355 I also was noy happy with the finish of mt GTS wheels. I sent them to cal chrome and the diffrence was alsom.
