When I just recently installed my K&N's and smooth tubes I noticed my car has both a sucking sound & a whistle under acceleration. A few days later after installing the belanger catback it beame less noticeable, but only because the exhaust note is louder. JonB told me before purchasing, that the K&N's would make a difference in the intake flow that I would "hear". So, I'm assuming that it's normal.

Dave.

It's close to sounding like a belt squeal, but the whistle "probably" is from the airbox. Mine whistles under light throttle acceleration. You can hear the sucking sound mostly at idle, in front of the car, especially when the rain baffle is removed.

I would venture to say..... no problem. Your description sounds normal.

It's your K & N's you just installed, perfectly normal. Just depending on small variances from car to car, some might hear a sucking noise and others a sharp whistle to a more "droney" whistle.. Mine whistles just like yours. ENJOY!

I have asked both my Chrysler mechanic and Ted May of Valaya
Racing, and both gave the same response: it's normal.

Something to do with the design of the intake on the ACR and other Vipers with K&N.

And I've grown to love the sound of acceleration....

My car does the EXACT same thing. Only under slight acceleration. Not idle or hard acceleration.

Same with mine, whistle under light acceleration but not WOT or idle. Drove me a little crazy when I didn' know they did that. My 94 doesn't. I don't mind a little whistle as long as it's normal.

Another benefit of K&N / smooth tube set up is that subtle "hissing" sound you hear when standing by the NACA duct. Really fits the car, as it has kind of a wicked, "beware of me" sound.

Yeah, that's it! Tellem its a D.L. S/C Snake!

Normal....many K+N equipped Gen-2s do it. At Sebring, my highest speed drive, the whistle was almost "high- piercing" to some sensitive Pit-row spectators!
