Im probably buying an rt10 that is in califronia and i will have to have it shipped to NY. who do i use and how do i go about setting everything up. Im also curious as to how to pay the seller. Half of the funds are coming from my bank account and half are from a loan check. Someone with experience please chime in.

p.s. im on a budget and i would like to get quality but reasonably priced closed container shipping.

Will you just grab your best girl (or guy depending on) jump on a jet and go get it, its your first viper and a roadster to boot take the top off and drive, man! Ask yourself do you really think your ever gonna pack it up and drive it across the country intentionally?
Heck, you'll have more seat time than most in just one outing, go for it!
And if you break down anywhere within 100 miles of me I'll help with the rescue, not saying I'll rescue you, just help...

a little...
Congrats on the car.

Why enclosed? It's a car, that's all. :drive:

I would not even consider anything other than enclosed shipping. Rock chips, other cars leaking fluids from above on it,hail, and vadalism at a truck stop would be enough reasons for me...:(

thanks for the advice guys. i would definitely go enclosed. I wish i could jump on a jet (with my best girl by the way) and drive it back across the country but i cant with my job. Im the superintendent of a golf course and i work about 80 hrs a week so i dont think it would fit in my schedule. Dont get me wrong i would love to and i probably would if it was the winter. The deal isnt sealed yet on the car so i should have put in the title "about to buy" but its looking good.

I understand exactly what you are saying and I have followed your posts and added my two cents here and there and admire your persistence as well as your work ethic and your devotion to it. But, think about it if you do nail down this car and with what you said above will you ever really take the time to drive it or any other car across the country. You'r only gonna live once, be the age you are once, maybe even have the opportunity once.
Think about it, its in Cali, hwy 1 is there one of the most beatiful drives in the entire country take it S. to Diego cut back to the desert (at night with the stars above) to Utah go skinny dipping in Lake Tahoe, head for the Rocky Mountains and don't forget Pikes Peak, head S. to the Gulf and have some shrimp on the barbee (or off Barbie if thats her name) cut N. through the Smokey Mountains and get up early to see the morning mist hanging in the valleys, follow the Appalachians home.
Go make some memories so that when your old you and her can look at each other and say with a huge smiles on your faces were glad we lived life and did'nt just pass through it.
14 days, 14 days will last a life time the grass will still grow on the course and the sprinklers will still sprinkle while your gone and it will still be there when you get back.
Is it because you can't or you won't?
for every reason you say you can't thats just one more reason to.
O'ya and with that route you won't come with'in a hundred miles of me so I'm off the hook .

Gary Almond brought my GTS from Vegas to Miami. Gary called me everyday with an update.:2tu: When he arrived in Miami, it started to rain a little and he was kind enough ( he understood ) to offer and wait for the rain to stop before unloading my car.

I just looked up a quote for 'passport transport' to move mine from St. Louis to Central Va and i think it is a very fair price. Only $1019 for an enclosed transport. Once i get some other things straight i will call these guys. Sent the payment express delivery yesterday,so seller should get that today and then i just have to get it shipped.

I purchased my 97 blue/white GTS a couple of months ago, it was in Mississippi. I live in Oklahoma (about 700 miles away). I flew there to pick it up, and I DROVE IT ALL THE WAY BACK HOME! It was an awesome trip! An experience I will never forget. I got lucky, not a single rock chip, or ticket on the way home, lol.

I have purchased and shipped 2 cars across the country and I had one good and one bad experience. The good experience was with a well know carrier. They picked it up when they said and delivered it in perfect condition when promissed. The second one (my 08 Viper) I took the advice of the dealer and used their broker and had nothing but problems. First they showed up late to pick up the car. Then after the car was loaded neither the dealer or the broker could give me a time as to when the car was going to be delivered. The car basically disappeared for 10 days. Then the driver finally called and said he was going to deliver the car in the next 3-4 day. When the car finally arrived this is the condition it arrived in. Remember this came in an enclosed trailer.

My advice to you is spend a few extra dollars and go with a company you can trust. When it was all said and done I think I saved myself $200.
