Hello James,
I'm very much interested to buy your Black Gen II Hardtop which was
posted for sale,I have spoken to my client and he has instructed me to
inform you that payment will get to you in a cashier check of $6,000
which is a refund payment of a cancelled order earlier made by my client.so
you are required to deduct cost of the Black Gen II Hardtop i.e $1500
when payment
gets to you and refund balance $4,500 to my Agent via western union
money transfer for him to be able to offset shipping charges.
Since I reside in dublin,Ireland.
After payment has reached you and balance sent back to him,our agent
will come and pick up receipt of sale and take it to the airport for
delivery down to my country, while receipt, papers and other necessary
documents will be sent to you via fedex courier to my customer. My
client could send the check to you through fedex courier immediately.
Please forward your full name! s, address and phone number.

Thanks
John layton

That type of scam has been around for years, nothing new. I got the same e-mail last year when I was selling one of my Mustangs on Autotrader.

You're not the 1st person to get this scam when using the VCA classifieds. Maybe the scammer is a Viper owner  :p

I doubt it's a Viper owner. It's just some random search for a classifed for sale web page. They send out thousands of these notes just fishing for a person dumb enough to respond. I'm 99.99 percent of people who get these messages laugh at how stupid the scam is. But it's that hundredth of a percent that do...

I got a number of varying scam emails when I had my car posted in the VCA classifieds. Like noted above, I doubt it has to do with anything specific about this place, just one of many to be trolled either directly or automatically to find transactions to try to scam.

This definitely screams scam, but how does this thing work? If they send a valid money order and your bank accepts it, then you're technically in the clear. Are they expecting to get your product before payment is made?

No the money order is fake but when you deposit it into your bank it shows that the money is in your account when REALLY it hasent cleared, That is why your bank will only alloe you to send up to your account balance and then once you send them the money a few days to a week or two pass and the money order turns out to be a fake. I dunno all the details but i personaly know someone who got scammed out of 2 grand this way. Women i tell ya lol

Many will over pay you for shipping or something and then ask you to send them a check for the difference. One company said to send the check to some no-name shipping company. Not sure they care about the part at all. Of course they°Ã˜re over seas check does not clear and your out a few hundred dollars.
At least that°Ã˜s my guess. I°Ã˜ve gotten about a 1/2 doz. Emails scams with missed spelled words and improper verbiage from my ads.

Wow...You'd have to be crazy to send money or product to one of these folks without making certain that their check is good. It's a shame you have to be so untrusting and skeptical these days.

Years ago I used the term scam for a tuner shop ordeal and everybody thought I was so negative. Since then a day does not go by that there is someone trying to pull a scam and is even mentioned in the papers or in web sites almost every day. You have to treat EVERYTHING as a scam these days until proven otherwise.

<< I have spoken to my client and he has instructed me ..... >>

this is the sentence that keeps cracking me up.

who is this "client" that buys viper parts through an "agent", who isnt able to type, write a letter, use a phone, send a fax, sing a telegram, sign, wave a flag, send a smoke signal, or do SOMETHING to get a sellers attention on his own?

BTW - all the posts i have made over the last couple of years were not actually done by big-n-italian.

big-n-italian (who is my CLIENT), has been instructing me to do all this on his behalf since July / 2004.

:D

Send a response and tell him that you too have a two party, out of state, post dated personal refund check for $20k and if he will send you his refund check for $6k plus a Western Union money transfer for the other $14k, minus the $1500 for the hardtop, you'll do business :) .

Re: Ya can\'t even sell something in the VCA classifieds without a SCAM

The one thing you don't want to do if you accept a payment for deposit from someone trying to scam you, then deposit it, because the bounce will cost you $$. Just call the issuer of the check if you think it is bad money.

Someone tried this on me and a SpecIII clutch I was selling in the classifieds. I called CircleK who supposedly issued the check and found it check to be counterfeit. They had sent two checks for $500. each and wanted me to refund the difference. People get taken every single day with this scam.

He was from Amsterdam and I told him I had reported it to the Amsterdam Police, and gave them the address he wanted me to send the refund to. At first I went along with him to acquire this address. Hopefully I gave him a scare, because I even gave him updates to the Police's progress to scare him some more.

Amazing how quickly they disappear when you simply tell them you have all your funds in a small, local Bank that only accepts wire transfers and no overseas Cashier Checks.

Re: Ya can\'t even sell something in the VCA classifieds without a SCAM

I received the same e-mail two years ago when selling my Gen 2 wheels... last year when selling my BBS wheels.. and three times this year after I posted my Northwind Hardtop for sale.

The second time I sent the guy back an email indicating that if I was expected to cash checks/tender the difference... I'd have to raise my asking price for the wheels from $2500 to $6000... he complied ... I gave him my P.O Box address.... and he mailed me a check for $8500... which I kept as a souvenir! He kept trying to contact me by e-mail for about a month....

I got this last one as well as another "cashsier's check" one that did not sound as fishy as Jucd Vipr's (made no mention of overseas accounts or wire transfers). Anyone who immediately offers you full asking price for a sale in text that sounds like a form letter is suspect. I delete these immediately.

Big, as usual you crack me up!
