    Time has come

I just wanted to thank all of you for all the help, advise, and great reading you have given me over the last few years. Though it is still the most interesting car I've ever owned, I decided to sell my Viper and move onto another experience with automobiles. I have the last few items on...

    TORQUE THE LUGS

90FT LBS. PS Be sure the lugs are clean, no oil on the surface that contacts the wheel as that could allow them to be over torqued and possibly stretch/break a stud.

ball joint splitting to remove melted boot

I have to split the ball joint to replace my ball joint boot (it melted in spots from the brakes). I see that the shop manual describes a Ball Joint splitter special tool, which looks like a C-clamp with a bolt running through it. My question is has anyone used a traditional fork type splitter...

Anyone run at BeaveRun?? Anyone SEEN it?

Trying to decide on another Viper Days event and was wondering if anyone had any comments about BeaveRun? I know it's new, and see the layout on their site, but what about difficulty and Safety (any close walls, adequate room for mowing, etc?) Nice facility? Any comments to help with my...

    speaker cutting in and out

Use a very small (glasses) screwdriver or a small putty knife to remove the grille. Remove the 3 or 4 screws behind the grille and the speaker will pop out. Likely a bad connection at the speaker or at the amp.

    Another vinyl stripe question

I read all about how Vinyl stripes are cheaper, easier to fix a section, removeable, etc... BUT, has anyone had the vinyl stripes and removed them completely from their car, after any significant time in service (summer baking)? Not only am I curious as to how easily they came off, but...

Setting toe, question on tie rod

Going to re-set toe in the front after taking out the sport shims and was wondering which way to turn the tie rod to bring the wheels in (increase toe in). After taking out the sport shims, I went from zero toe to about 1/4" toe out (wasn't expecting that much toe). My target is 1/8" max toe out...

Master cylinder and brake fluid seepage

I was at the track yesterday having a great time. My brakes in my 98 worked better than ever with Titanium pistons, SS Lines, Stoptech rotors, air deflectors, Castrol SRF and BM3's. Never a moment of fade, no boiling. (Thanks for the advice, Janni) The only detail that has me thinking is that...

    HELP!! Why do I stink?????

I'd have your exhaust checked out for leaks or your plates changed to "le pue". PS Michigan failed the federal air quality test and rumors of re-instated smog testing are bountiful. Hopefully the State will get smart and attack the major contributors instead of the automobile end user.

    Brake cooling ducts

Feeling a bit bored, creative, and restless, so I've decided to install some brake cooling ducts in my car. I have 3" silicon hose, and have eye-balled my route from the side of the radiator. My question is does anyone know of a pre fabricated duct with a 3" hose inlet that mounts to the...

Viper Days decisions and newbie questions

Hello all, I've decided to give Viper Days a try, wanting some good track time, under instruction, to get to know my car and it's limits. I was originally going to attend the Gingerman session later this summer, but am now thinking about Mid Ohio later this month. This way, if I get...

    Sparco Race Pedals

Just received my Sparco Race pedals and I think I have dislocated both thumbs trying to get those little rubber dots into the pedals(took some serious restraint not to use more profane words describing those dots!). There must be a trick that the pain and throbbing from my thumbs is preventing...

    Trunk repair...?

Pulled the soft top out of my car the other day and realized I had the top in upside down. Didn't know there was such an orientation, until I noticed the front latch had rubbed through the soft top bag and scored a nice groove into the trunk surface on the "bridge" next to one side of the spare...

    Power steering Cap vent?

Since the notes about the Powersteering cap emerged, I went out to tighten mine. The nipple that is on the cap, is it meant to be a high pressure bleed? I couldn't really tell. Thanks.

1 man hard top management - possible?

I have put on and taken off my hardtop by myself once, and it wasn't pretty. Luckily I had our entire linen closet on the car and floor to ensure that an untimely mishap didn't ruin my day. Any successful 1 man methods you can share? Do I just need to get good at it through practice? Or do you...

Aftermarket Audio system. How do you...

I have a '98 Roadster that I decided needs a stereo upgrade. I'm turning my garage queen into a road warrior and felt this will only add to the enjoyment. I have one basic question: In the Roadster, how do you run RCA wires back from the radio to the trunk where the new amp will be? I've taken...
