Tell us about driving the ACR Viper.

We just saw this post about the ACR Viper, below. We have a 2008 Viper on order from Woodhouse, it will be out first Viper. We always liked out extreme cars, such as a Lingenfelter Vet and a Doug Rippie track-prep Vet, and never had too much HP, so we are not looking for a plush ride.

Our question is should we try to get the ACR version? We don't expect it to be a smooth ride, but our track-prep Vet is a little much for the street. How much different will an ACR be than a typical 2008 Viper? Will it be available on the same schedule?

Will it come with 5 or 6 point restraints?

My stock 2006 coupe rides rougher than my previous C6 Corvette. The rides are a lot different. I would assume the ACR will ride rough too, but I can't see it getting too much harder than a regular Viper. Plus, the shocks are adjustable.

I'd only get the ACR if your REALLY going to track the car.

Personally, I not much on rear wings on street cars.

Ditto--though LOVING the look of the whole ACR...and understand the need for the wing ONLY if tracking. Also too low for our area...could not drive it to a track with our roads.
So, depends on what you'll use the Viper for!! ~juli

No harnesses with the ACR but they can be added easily. Teamtech harnesses make 5 and 6-point systems designed specifically for the Viper.

Call Bill Pemberton back at Woodhouse and discuss your questions with him. He is not just a salesperson. He is an SCCA instructor and is very knowledgeable about the vehicles that he sells. Depends on how often you are going to use the car and what you are going to use it for. If this is going to be a car that you only drive a few times a month or track mostly, go with the ACR. If you are going to drive this car on weekends and go a bit of a distance, then you are probably best with the stock version. Personally, I was happy with the new stock versions power and said, maybe I would get one in the future but now that I see the ACR version, I am forgetting about the stock version and definately going to get an ACR version in the near future. Just need a few more years!
