Let's talk...we need some help planning this event.

Per our recent conversation with Tom Roeller, President of the NJ club, their club will probably not be co-planning this event. However, anyone from any club is welcome to join us on this cruise.

We need to set up a meeting place. Those that we know of that are coming plan to stay at the Ramada Limited in Mechanicsburg (exit 57 off of I-81), therefore somewhere close by that location would be good. We have a volunteer to set up the luncheon at the same place that we ate at last year. Anyone from western PA can meet us at the lunch location. Our cruise on into Shanksville will follow lunch. We will then cruise back to Mechanicscburg. There are no plans for an evening dinner.

Can someone please help us out setting up a good meeting spot in the Mechanicsburg area? :dunno:
We need to move quickly on planning this event as a newsletter needs to go out SOON! :firedev:

Feel free to contact us.

Thanks,
Denny & Ginger

Just a short 1 mile away is a closed Lowes...Large parking lot...Why don't you all just meet there ? Or you could always meet @ Flying J - Dunkin Donuts off of 81S in Carlisle...

Ginger, the Lowes that Frank mentioned is in the same parking lot as your favorite little diner, that would be an easy place to meet in the AM.

Thanks...that's exactly where we were originally planning on meeting, but wanted to throw it on the table for any ideas from those that know the area better. I'll post more details regarding time etc. as soon as I can get them together.

Additional information for the September 20th ~ :usa:LET’S ROLL CRUISE:usa::

The chosen meeting place for this cruise will be in the Wal*Mart Plaza on the corner of Carlisle Pike and Route 114. The Snake Pit will be located in the back, to the right of the Silver Spring Diner, the parking lot of the former Lowe’s store. We will depart from the parking lot at 9:30 AM sharp and cruise to The Jean Bonnet Tavern (www.jeanbonnettavern.com), 6048 Lincoln Highway, Bedford. Lunch reservations are set for 11:30 AM. We will order from the menu…dutch treat. At approximately 1 PM we will leave for Shanksville (22 miles) to pay our respects to those who died on Flight 93. Plans are to depart from the memorial site between 2 and 2:30 PM and return to Mechanicsburg, unless you are from western PA. There are no evening dinner plans at this time.

Western PA members that wish to join us are welcome to meet the group at the lunch location.

Because we need a head count for lunch, please let Ginger know that you will be attending. Email – [email protected] or 607-426-0837 (cell)

If you wish to stay in the Mechanicsburg area there is a Ramada Limited very near by. Call 717-790-1520 to make your reservation.

Questions regarding this event should be directed to Ginger or our western PA event organizer, Donna Kort. 724-316-9343 (cell).

It is our hope that many of you will join us for this memorable event. :usa:

We have 11 Vipers as of today. Of that number, 7 will meet in Mechanicsburg, and 4 will meet at the Jean Bonnet Tavern.:drive:

For those of you in the western PA area that plan to meet up with Rege & Donna Kort for the drive to the Jean Bonnet Tavern (6048 Lincoln Highway, Bedford 15522), below is a message from Donna regarding the meeting point. If you do plan to meet them, please call Donna so she knows you are coming to that location. If it is more convenient for you to just meet at the restaurant that is fine too.

* We plan to meet at the Oakmont rest area on the PA turnpike (it is located about 1 mile east of the Allegheny Valley turnpike entrance). We will arrive there about 9 am and plan to wait until 9:30 am sharp before we leave and head to the Bedford exit on the PA turnpike. The restaurant is located a few miles from the exit. If you have any questions before or on that day here is my cell phone number 724-316-9343. *

There are currently 14-15 Vipers that will be at the tavern and then make the trip on to Shanksville. The weather is looking great for the day. Come along for this memorable cruise. :usa:

I'm in western PA and have to get on the PA turnpike at New Stanton. The Oakmont rest area is too far out of the way for us. I may just have to meet everyone at the restaurant.

Tom,

The New Stanton ramp appears to be about 26 miles from the Oakmont service plaza. I would guesstimate the caravan will be passing the New Stanton ramp around 9:50am or so. You could just slither in with the group at that point. I'll PM you my cell phone.

BTW, for those meeting at the Oakmont Plaza, I'm bringing my 2-way radio. If anyone else has one, bring it along. Also, I have a spare someone can borrow.

I live less than 30 minutes from the memorial. I'll drive to Bedford and meet you at Jean Bonnet at lunchtime!

Denny & Ginger,

Thanks for arranging a very nice drive and get together. You guys always do a wonderful job. This was my first time to the crash site of 911, very moving experience. :usa:

Lauri,
Can't wait to see the pictures you took.

PittsburghRT,

I wish I would have got to meet you and talk to you, I have seen you post on the forum and love your Gen I, Nice Wheels as well!!

As for the code my old Gen I threw, no big deal (Code 14) low voltage from MAP Sensor and thanks to Tator I have one laying around from a couple years ago that I never used. Installed it this morning and am ready for the Grand Canyon drive now.:2tu:

Thanks,
Ed, Angela and Trinity

Here's few pictures, Thanks for organizing this Cruise.

Sometimes we remember mostly Twin Towers and New York when talking about 9/11. Due to brave crew and passanges on Flight 93, they did prevent additional attack destined to Congress or White House.

:usa:We are proud of you and you will remain in our hearts!:usa:
