As the ACR is the more track oriented Viper, SRT probably decided that the coupe body style was better suited given aerodynamics, chassis stiffness and safety (some clubs won't allow a convertible at all or unless you have a dedicated rollcage).

I agree that a convertible ACR would be fun. To me running a convertible at a track day has advantages over a closed car: I get a better sense of my speed, can sense when cars are near me better (fewer blind spot issues), better ventilation on hot days esp when wearing a suit and it's just more fun.

After adding safety equioment like a rollbar and 6-poits, I tried to get some of the benefits of an ACR by adding the Stoptech brakes, Sidewinder rims, etc. The thing I'm missing of course is the downforce which is a huge factor in the performance of the ACR. Still, so far, the vert has been really satisfying on the track. Still, this coming season I may add another set of ACR rims with the Sport Cups for dry weather days and keep the other rims with PS2s for cold or wet weather track days.

it would be no point since the ACR is all aero dynamics and If it would be a convertable it wouldn't have good aero Dynamics.

I have to agree with rcl4668, the vert is a ton of fun on the track. It's kinda like running an open wheel car. I have run my '08 with the top up, top down and the AP engineering hardtop in place. Top up *****, because the headder bows hit you right on top of the helmet. The AP hardtop has a little better clearance. But there is now substitute for the open top.

There was only one ACR in an RT/10. If I am not mistaken, it was a VCA raffle car, and it was grey or graphite, black rims, and......i forget.

It would be a GREAT idea to build up the next VCA Raffle car as a special ACR convertible! Make it Viper blue with a black center and red driver's stripe.:drive:

I also just thought about the upcoming Ferrari F430 Scuderia convertible when reading this thread.

Some people (like me) just prefer convertibles, and we want them to be great performing cars too. :2tu:

From those pics it looks like the front splitter is angled up and thus would create lift. It is just the pics?
