With all of the supposed lawsuits against HMS and all of the people he has taken for a ride, not literally, how is he able to avoid some sort of jail time? Why doesn't the state of Texas do something about this crook?

Doesnt he now work for HMS.

Damn Frank, I totally forgot about that guy. Is he still around ?

If David works with Hennessey i'd steer clear. He is still around promoting his great workmanship, scamming others. He got me for 5K. He got others also. I will not longer pay for work in advance. I got taken too many times....They are definately life experiences.....

this is just the reason that when it comes to my viper I demand that the parts are ordered and ready to install before I take my car to any shop including dealers. My local dealer was a bit annoyed by this at first but now he knows, I don't even like leaving my car unattended and if I do I call everyday. I just can't imagine handing over my keys for someone to haul my car across the country to work on for months. Not a chance. I wouldn't do it for a FREE engine build.

Taig:

So, how are the proceedings going???? I can't believe that a known shop can get away with the kind of FRAUD that this guy Hennessey is pulling! This is not like losing a few thousand dollars, but $142k which is more then a new ACR!!! On top of not completing your car, he actually had the nerve to sell parts off your car....that is beyond words!!!

He not only should be sued for fraud, but should be arrested for theft....unauthorized sale of pieces of your car for his benefit.

A guy like this should not be allowed to do business...PERIOD!

There should be a way that VCA/Chrysler (not that they don't have their own problems) can apply pressure to this guy.

In my opinion, it is VCA's responsibility to protect unsuspecting Viper buyers/owners from this unscrupulous shop owner.

He is a slug and should be treated as such!

I believe in free enterprise, but not this kind of free! :usa:

So explain to me, unless I am totally naive, how this guy is thief is still in business let alone not doing time in some jail for fraud....better yet, isn't lying on the side of the road somewhere for bilking an unsuspecting Mob guy who just happens to like Vipers.

Its dishonest people like this, who remain in business despite all they do, that totally P--ses me off!!!!!!!!:firedev:

Alot of you guys are new to this scene with HMS as these storys going around are just the VERY TIP of the iceburg and in fact have gone on since the mid 90s.(It was actually worse back then because he was free to post and advertise on the VCA website)

The exact way to do business. The incorrect way basically enabled HMS to prey upon his victoms (in the past customers have shipped their cars there and paid tens of thousands of dollars in ADVANCE .The geographical distance making it very hard for the customer to check up on his work.)

Hell he is not only still in business, he seems to be thriving. He bought out a race track last year (i think it was in 07) and made himself a new headquarters.

Do tell...:eater:
Oh no....that one is all his.
Walt is much more explicit and vocal when it comes to that horror show.
If he decides to tell it, you will either have veins popping on your forehead or tears flowing down your cheeks.
Maybe both.

JH owns a race track now?
Isn't that kinda like Courtney Love owning a liquor store?

I dont know about thriving as just a few months ago he had Wilks on this Forum looking to BORROW a 2008 Gen 4(FEW DAYS) to do some testing in California for new engine packages (in return he promised the owner free services to the car ).Anyone thriving would have a few 08 test mules they OWNED to do PRODUCT R&D on .LPE for example does not go on a Chevy site to ask to borrow someones Vette for a few days to develop a new camshaft .

I must say, its pretty sickening to hear these stories and amazing to me that this guy hasn't been arrested or killed.

But to be flourishing after repeated offenses.....a sad commentary on our free enterprise system, Texas Attorneys General's Office, Better Business Bureau and so on. If anything, there should be a class action suit against him and any key partners.

I agree with the comment about geographic distance...it is very difficult to sue someone in another state as your appointed lawyer must have passed the Bar in the target state. And....then on what criteria do you find a new lawyer in that state?

Okay, that's it for me...I'm exhausted from aggrevation over Hennessey....:crazy2:

Thank goodness we've got Chuck!!!!!!:2tu:

Apparently according to the track web site, his NEW headquarters is located at the track. HHHHmmmmmm...... makes you wonder if those involved with the track facilities even know about these stories on all the forums.

Just think if Hennessey delivered one of his "modified" cars for Christmas.....oh, the excitement, the anticipation of not knowing what you are really getting as you unwrap your Viper....

This should be him while out for a relaxing swim....

Who should REALLY be ashamed are the 3 MAJOR AUTO MAGS because it is specifically through them that this guy gets the exposure which enables him to set people up(BRAND RECOGNITION).Is there EVER a tuner test involving a Viper that he is not welcomed to participate in and alot of times wins. The average buyer (NEW to Viper )who wants mod work automatically call him.

The problem is the customer does not contract with John Hennessey PERSONALLY they contract with one of his CORPORATIONS (which easily can be put out of business )As a backup (certain cases involving fraud depending on the state one can pearce the corp vail )the guy probably has all his assests in his wifes or parents name .Think about it a defrauded customer has to hire an attorney (often from thousands of miles away ),pay him and make himself available (numerious times )to fly to Texas (Depositions,Trial )to get a judgement(YEARS LATER) that he can not possibly collect .

Owns the track? I never seen the contracts so I cannot say for sure, but the previous owner of the track says he sold it to Hennessey. He does (someone does) have a newer building built at the track ,that is his, and where he does his work.

I used to race My Chevelle there at that track before he bought it. After he became the controller of the track he pissed everyone that raced there off, calling them cheap asses and some more choice words. I never went back.

I am no fan of Hennessey, only read horror stories of his work, but dislike him for his chitty treatment of the racers that went there. I have no idea what goes on there now. The old owner was going to build and did build MX tracks for dirt bikes and was supposed to make a road course.

Untill the mags stop the above it will continue to be business as usual for him.Customers find out about him after the fact and are left to compare horror storys on the VCA forums. Unfortunately being on the cover of Motor Trend ,Car and Driver or Road and Track (sometimes yearly )offers him a ton more exposure than does the true life experiences of those who did business with him on the Vca Forums.

I am under the impression that the tuners pay the Mags to feature their cars. If that is the case, i am sure a big thank you goes out to the Mr. H's customers.
