What are some known problems for the 2000+ vipers? I hear about the "viper tax"....where does that mainly come into play...everything?

Yup, suppliers tax pretty much anything if it even could fit on a Viper!:lmao:

As for things to look for, best bet would be to get Maurice Liangs book Viper Buyers Guide. It will cover pretty much everything to look out for and also has pics of what those things look like.

But to answer the question here, first and foremost, watch out for speed bumps and *** holes!;) As for the car itself, not too much. Make sure the tires are not hard now that you got the car. On average, most Viper tires last a few years and then the tire compound becomes less sticky. That becomes a hazzard when you tromp on it. Many many Viper have been wrecked due to old tires. When you have a car with this much torque, you need to have traction.

Other than that, check all fluids. Make sure they are all fresh.

EDIT: Watch out for wheel hop on launches!! If you do a hard launch and the rear tires start to hop, clutch in or loose your halfshafts! They are the weak link in your driveline. Also interesting to note that hard tires are a major factor that causes wheel hop!;) Dont ask how I know this!:D:D

Thanks for the responses. Also, unrelated, I have read that the ACR with the smooth tubes and k & n filter boost HP to 460 from stock 450. Why am I reading that the ACR's are actually slower than stock GTS? I figure more hp + slightly less weight would equal a slight 1/4 bump? If anything I would have thought those mods would add more than 10hp from what other members typically get?!

Your car is only slower because it is red. The comparison was done against yellow cars and yellow cars were supertuned at the factory making red ACR's look slow.

Viper Tax is on pretty much every part and/or service you can imagine. There are some "off the shelf" parts that Dodge used on the Viper and other vehicles and these parts generally don't carry the Viper Tax (or aren't "taxed" nearly as much). Such is life though with a low volume high performance vehicle... :crazy2:

Welcome to the sickness!!!

I call :bs2: on that one. Red cars are scientifically proven to be faster and better looking than yellow cars. They should have called it "Race Loser Yellow." when they picked it off the palette. :slap:
:stooges:

Yellow cars are :lame:

Where is this report!? I wanna see it and the background check on the guy who did it! Betcha is is a fixed test by a red owner!:D

And yellow cars are LAME?? C'mon, you can do better than that!:D:poke:

And this is all coming from a red owner (so we know it is all a pile of whowey) who had to CS his car to keep up with us yellow ones!:lmao:
