i personally like the stock alpine deck, amp & front component speakers. It's the bass that's lacking. I also didn't want to mess with the stock look so much or add to an already crowded trunk space. So, for ~ $400 i added the following & it sounds great with lotsa bass.

amp to drive my new subs:
Rockford Fosgate® - P300-1

replaced 6.5" stock subs with:
JL Audio 6W3v3 Subwoofers - Car Audio Subwoofers

LOVE IT. :D

Should have gotten? Dodge should have saved money on the components, just routed the wires and let all the whiners install whatever stupid stereo they wanted. It's a sports car, built and driven for purpose of sport.

We know already guys...blah, blah, blah, no nannies, blah, no stereo, blah, blah, no spare tire, blah, blah...

...some of us want the combination of a unique sports car and some creature comforts. ;)

Hey Chuck, does your viper have a passenger seat?

Yeah why, you want a ride? I've given plenty. You might not enjoy it though, my radio and A/C haven't worked in years. And when I cage the GTS it'll be fitted with a passenger seat too.

I can't wait to hear what your point is.

My car has a roll bar, no AC, no heat, only half the speakers, no sway bar, no wipers, has harnesses...but has an aftermarket amp, head unit and front speakers. I'm so confused...I don't known who to side with...hold me...

i have not played the radio in it for over 4 years now

When I was younger...high school...bad ass audio systems were 'the thing'. I grew up in a military family, so my first two cars cost less than I carry around in my pocket today. One of them did have an audio system that was worth more than the car (puchased with most of the money that I earned during a summer job). That being said...I've been driving my viper since I bought it without the sub/bass, it was blown. I've been enjoying other features like the V10 and the Belanger/RT/Corsa exhaust. But it's winter and I'm looking for things to do, so it's going to be the audio system next. :omg:

This was my point. ;) If you're going to spew all the 'don't need this, don't need that', then take it all the way. :poke:

Some of us need that extra seat occasionally for an instructor in order to advance our skill set ! (I have a lot of room for advancement left.)

But, I agree that the Viper, as built, is a great car for many uses, and then can be tweaked for what specifcally makes your drive time more fun.

Vipers come with a radio????

Like Chuck said its a ******** sports car, practiclly a street legal race car. I havent listen to the radio in my Dakota R/T in years now and havent even turn the radio on the the Viper since I got it. The Viper is meant to be driven, not to be a speaker for your ipod.

Why are these things mutually exclusive...why can't you do both. :dunno:

Lots of testosterone going on in this thread... I wonder how many eyebrows some of you guys have or if you have a protruding forehead??? :lmao: ;)

I'm not only a car lover, but also a music lover. It adds to my pleasure screaming down the road in the Viper while listening to good music, and there is some that is great for driving.

I suppose it would have been fine for me if Dodge would have just given me a few wires to hook up my own instead of putting an inferior system in the car. It may say Apline on it, but it is the lowest Alipine crap I have ever heard (although starting with the Gen 3 it is better). They sold out there name on that contract.

Thanks for sharing Mopaprracing.

Okay, here's the "old guy's" opinion.

I bought the Viper because its an animal motor with an "oh by the way" we had to put a body on it. I think that was the thinking for the very early RT's.

For me, I love music, and sometimes I just want to tool around in the RT to relax...still enjoy driving it, but have the music too. :drive: I don't always want to listen to the motor...seriously, the motor sounds the same on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday..... I don't always want the same tune!

That said, I agree with the car having some versitility...as a just in case! Really, the radio doesn't make the car any slower so why not have a good one?:dunno: So, unless you bought your Viper strickly as a race car, how does it hurt to have the radio in it? My a/c works great (thanks to Chuck) and my radio (while not the best sound) is passable.

So you're an all or nothin' kind of guy but you bought a Viper with a crappy radio, crappy interior and no creature comforts? Try Ferrari or Mercedes next time.

I'm sorry, but I'm confused...I'm not the 'all or nothing' kind of guy...I have no problem with viper owner's using their viper however they would like. I'm not the one stating...

...whiner this...stupid that...it's a sports car...who needs a radio...it wasn't designed for this and it wasn't designed for that...fat lip rims...ghetto wheels...

Just sayin'.

Because radios don't add hp. This debate never ends. The stock stereo is lacking. You should set it up.

Dont' worry...I'm going to do whatever the hell I want to my viper. I could care less about a lot of the opinions on this site. ;) I do like it when facts are used to back up the opinions.
