My second round of mods-Car is going to RSI

Had to get a lawyer involved...motor sat for almost 4 months untouched. Eta for motor completion is next Friday. Almost! Now back to the important stuff... When is round 6 of mods happening? Haha

Good advise Gerorge. Im in the real-estate industry and I know all about "promise to deliver date agreement" and such contractual provisions when dealing with home building. Although this would be great to have in an auto-industry, I've never seen this or even heard of anyone talking about applying this to an automotive based company.

Have you worked with RSI in the past? Sounds like you have a bad experience or two with someone working on your ca?

Real Estate is easy as there are laws and cases on the books...also cases with loss rental income, failure to perform, etc. etc. There is a lot of precedent there to draw from.

In the tuner world they have your car (can't walk away easily with real estate and lock it behind closed doors). If I was having any substantial work done to my car like what you want completed and the tuner was not willing to sign a delivery date with penalties, then I would only use a tuner that I could physically check on (literally drop in and see the progress). Even S. California is doable because a 1 hour flight can have you there in two hours with a rental car from the airport.

You're only doing a Paxton car, right? Remember your not splitting atoms, only compressing them so don't over think this.

I have not had RSI work on my car. But the search feature is your friend and so is getting on the Alley and google. Like I said, if you can't quickly get to the tuners shop for a little drop by visit, I would not send my car anywhere without written agreements and financial consequences. And if a company is not willing to sign an agreement, then you've got to wonder what they are up to. Like I said, if they can't handle something as simple as a Paxton install (I'm sure they've done multiple units and know what they need in time and materials, right??) then I don't want them touching my car.

If you were asking them to put a Ferrari motor in your Viper and this is the first one they've ever done, then I could see a tuner not being able to promise a time line. But for what you are doing, it should be no problem.

Have you thought about A&C Performance down in SoCal? Todd is relatively close in comparison and I have not seen the drama that's associated with so many other tuners. Definitely worth a look.

Just be careful, once the car is out of your hands and control, you have no control without legal agreements.

You really have zero basis to your argument as your going off what other people are sying with no personal experience here. I could care less about peoples rants and raves as there is always three sides to every story, yours, mine and what really happened. Just like any business transaction, there is a million things that can go wrong and if something does go wrong, you will get a different story from every participant involved. Not to mention all of the positive feedback that is also written about RSI on both forums, but I guess some people just choose too focus on the negative. Luck me, I've never had a bad experience with any shop ive decided to send my cars too, local or out of state, whether they were working on my 70 camaro, murcie or anything in between. This is not my first rodeo. Ive been a member of both VA and VCA forums since 2005 and this being my 3rd viper, Im very familiar with ALL the different viper tuners out there. I do know Todd at A&C.

With that said, RSI has a great reputation within the Viper community, especially after they changed owners 4 or 5 years back and have a huge following with lots of happy clients and fast cars out on the streets. I'm very happy with my decision.

So does that mean we're on for our steak dinner bet?? And like I said, nothing would make me happier than losing the bet and you get your car back in a timely manner and to your satisfaction. Of course, I will require a ride in the new powered beast when I pay up

The tails are sprayed. Yes you can see the lights with out any issues.

Its been a while and I wanted to write up an update. We had two delays before getting the car on the dyno. One with the polish guy that took an extra two weeks to polish my engine parts and another with a bad AEM that needed to be sent back and repaired. After all of that the car went up on the dyno on Saturday to get tuned and two broken pistons later the motor is now getting a full forged bottom end. Car put down around 600rhwhp before the pistons went. I knew these motors were crap but i guess mine was on the way out as it was. Only 20k on the odometer. Engine is already at the machine shop. Hoping to have the car back on the dyno with in the next three weeks.

Yeah the upside is good. More boost and more HP plus a strong motor is a good thing.

I hear you, stock piston can't take stock paxton boost? I feel your pain, I have a Arrow racing rebuild in the car now, so been in your situation. Good luck with the new build.

Are they planning on replacing the oil cooler? I'd probably go ahead and have that done in case any junk from the engine made its way into the oil, and possibly the cooler. The last thing I'd want is little pieces of metal from the old oil cooler circulating into my brand new engine.

Might be overkill, but it can't hurt.

Oh the irony--per the discussion about AEM vs SCT with tony--i cant help but find a bit of humor in the AEM failing.

Obviously this is an extra expense for me but Will at RSI is going above and beyond to help with this unforeseen build. I'm not going to go into detail but I am more then happy to say the least with the result. I will recommend RSI to anyone!

Glad to hear RSI is taking care of you. I remember watching your white coupe vids back in the day (before you painted the hood haha), that was one of the best sounding vipers i've ever heard, to this day--perks of the gen II exhaust routing i guess.
