Why delete the thread or not have an open discussion about what is happening. It's out in the open on numerous other sites and there are a number of enthusiasts that are former members that have not rejoined or have been banned because they disagree with some of the decisions being made by the board.

There is a thread on this subject inside the VCA member forum here. Not sure why non-paying non-members need to be involved.

Very simple - some of us non-paying members had been members for the previous 9 years, supported the VCA in every raffle, and helped numerous Viper owners to solve issues with their Viper. After having posts removed, threatened with suspension, and other reasons - I could only vote by not rejoining. Would love to be a part of a GREAT car club again and based on the stance and leadership - hope that this will be the opportunity to make the necessary changes to get back to that.

Good points. Let me just say that the internal discussion isn't exactly a happy thread. You guys with complaints are well-represented by the masses.

Funny thing to say for a guy who posted this on the Alley....

The best car clubs I've been a part of were free. Forums generate revenue by selling ad space, no need to charge members to join. I did pretty well with LS1Tech, and it never cost members a cent.

jalopnik now has picked this up, there is no way they can keep deleting these threads as if nothing is happening while every other car forum is talking about it but the one it pertains to cant

If these posts are removed it will prove the point about the censorship. I also refused to join and decided to deny them the membership fees. I am really hoping the Viper car club ( business) will change for the better and be like it was 7 years ago when I first joined. Yes, I fully expect this to be erased also.

I have been a member for less than a year and this will be my last year unless these things change. I don't pay my hard earned money to be censored or talked to like an adolescent because someone up high disagrees with me. Keep it up and maybe things will change. I am glad to see these threads keep popping up.

The problem with opening the thread up to non members is not the former members. It is that the same trolls, and probably even more, who have contaminated the Gen V Forum will end up posting and contaminating a public thread on this subject. Why not just renew at the base level VCA membership. It is not that much money.

Maybe if I had known this before becoming a member I would habe made a different decision. This is where I noticed the conversation and wanted to respond. Its ashame it got to this point. Its suppose to be about the car but unfortunately this is what it has become.

Does not make sense. How does taking your football and going home help to play the game better? There are always different approaches to a problem. It's just a matter of figuring out what method of communication and what type of communicative technique works to accomplish your reasonable goal.

This just posted on Jalpnik after a bunch of typical incorrect media assumptions provided by a few:

"As a corporate policy, we do not comment on company business. Chrysler Group LLC is fully committed to its SRT and Viper owners and continues to maintain a relationship with them as demonstrated through participation at various events around the country, such as the Woodward Dream Cruise and support for events like the LX Spring Festival."

Well, clearly postingvon the Member's forum doesn't work because many of us have had posts deleted. When all else fails, especially when you feel your funds are being misused, you vote with your wallet.

I don't have a dog in this fight, and certainly don't have all the facts, but I'm going to seriously think twice before re-upping my membership for next year if this doesn't get resolved.

Things are already changing. The current thread on the subject is pretty robust and it has not been shut down.

That's great news, Bob. And as soon as I'm convinced the change is real I, and probably tens if not hundreds more like me, will rejoin the Club. Hell, I will probably re-up my stupid Venom membership.

When Chrysler sponsors the VCA again, sure. Maybe.

I think it is stupid you can't have links to ebay. That doesn't really help the membership.

Not sure how those two statements are related. LS1Tech was a for-profit business with an LLC. VCA is a car club with paid dues. I do not feel the VCA should charge to be a member, but that is how it is. This forum isn't that busy, it could easily sustain itself with advertising.

On one hand you make the point that car clubs could (and should) be free, on the other hand, you want to limit access to the discussion of the current VCA issues (which are the reason many of us are non-paying, non-members). Those two notions seem at odds to me.

You are taking two different things and relating them out of context. We didn't have to be transparent on 'Tech, it was a business. I've always felt it should be 100% transparent here, since we are paying to be members here, and this is a "non-profit". I'm fairly certain I agree with what you are saying, regarding this VCA situation. But, you have to agree that it is typically customary for a paid-members club to reserve club discussions with the paid members. Everyone has their reason for being in or out of the VCA. I paid so that I could buy a raffle ticket and get a discount on some parts. I haven't been to a Houston VCA function in years, I get no use from that aspect. In the past, I've asked for reduced VCA membership costs for those of us that do not benefit from local gatherings or events. Those threads got deleted.

If it were up to me, there would be no paid VCA memberships, and these discussions could be out in the open, without fear of deleting them. BUT, I don't make the rules. I also don't expect the rule makers to cave because I disagree with their rules. That is all I am saying.

You are so spot on here and just like my closed post a month ago on how the forums have gone to hell sums it up again. I cannot forget how some of us VCA old timers saw how great the forums WERE with intelligent questions and answers without the immature quibbling and assaults? The new crap generation has infiltrated I suppose as in other areas even more important than a car club. Cannot wait for next years crowd.

The only reason this thread has not been deleted is because the cat is out of the bag and doing so would be pointless. They have not come to their senses they just do not know what to do now. Deleting, idle threats, and bans ain't going to work anymore
