Before I get hit with a bunch of "use the search function, idiot" replies let me clarify!!! I have searched, and I have viewed the registry, and I have found out how many of my cars exist. So....my question is how rare is my car after all that?

I see 402 '03 SRT10 Black verts were built, according to the registry. But how many have the triple black option, including the Viper emblems being blacked out as well? I am trying to piece as much info about my specific car together as I can. I already found an interesting video on Youtube that appears to by my "Carfax one owner" Viper for sale with only 10,000 miles on it ( it now has 37,000). It even had the dented speaker grill in the backrest and the stickers under the hood that I have. The problem is, if it's a one owner car, who bought it at 10,000 miles and who owned it prior to that....wait that's already too many people!! You see where I'm heading now...???

Thanks,

Run your V.I.N. through Chrysler to confirm ownership history. I ordered 2 2003's ...one red, one black...and, I sure do not remember any options. Also, seems to me that red cars had red emblems and black cars had black emblems. Hopefully, someone else can give you a more authoratative answer.

I don't know of any factory variations/options for the 2003 Viper at all nor do I recall any "blacked-out" emblems. The variations didn't come until the 2004 model (Mamba editions). If you are not the original owner, then the previous owner(s) customized the emblems.

All were triple black and not sure if you are just stating that your emblem is in black and gray -- they all were. The Mamba cars were done in 2004 ( white and black ) and 2005 ( Silver ). Checked your car and it was the first car we received and is very likely the first , or one of the first 2003s delivered in the US of A. Luxury Tax changed in January, so everyone wanted to wait, but the first owner did not want to and he flew up to get this beast. We supposedly got some of the very first cars and we held most till Jan. 2003. Two we sold in 2002 and this one was the first by a tiny margin. First owner was a Regional President of the VCA , also.

The only thing funny is how anyone can say ANY Viper will never amount to nothing!! Unless its a know p.o.s., in which case you are making me start to regret the purchase...

Bill, thank you for the updates. It does hold value to be able to say its the 1st black one registered in the US...for what that's worth.

Viper Jeff, sending pm now.

Thanks all!

I have an 03, its worth more to me to have as a fun car, never will be a collectors car like my 97... As others have said, just enjoy it, it's a Viper, it's rare, it's fun as heck...

I love my 03....Granted I had to put about 5K into upgrades/repairs to get it how I want it...but now I just enjoy it! It is my daily driver and I get compliments on it EVERY day!. like Nsane1 said....it is fun car you can use and drive. It may hold its value fairly well, but won't gain value. Just look at it this way....you are probably the only viper in the neighborhood filled with probably....oh, 20 Corvettes. It's cool, it's exclusive, it's a V10....it's a Viper. Just sitting there it looks cool. Drive the sh*t out of that thang!!

Can't verify 100% , that is was the very first 2003 Registered, but we did receive one of the first loads of 2003s , and this was the first one registered as far as we could tell -- another was done in Indiana. The fact that the owner jumped on a plane and could care less that he had to pay the luxury tax , shows how excited he was to get this Snake. We had others who decided to wait till January to miss the tax, and this machine rolled out of Woodhouse ( Blair , Nebraska) on the 23rd of December. It has apparently been down South it's entire life ---gee, can't imagine leaving the lovely Nebraska Winter for the Southern climes near our Gulf Coasts,ha. Cool part is the first owner popped up with a Tattoo of Fangs already on his arm, so he was one proud Diehard Snakecharmer and happy to be in his second Viper.

It's really rare in Greensburg, LA.....j/k.

Doesn't matter what year, what gen, what color....it's a Viper and only about 30,000 have ever been made. Maybe not rare but certainly each one is very special

Re: nice car

Blasphemy! All Vipers are SACRED!

I do agree.......

Like mentioned above, 23 years, just a little over 30k built. When was the last time you saw two at an intersection at the same time when a cruise wasn't the order of the day. Hell they are so rare were I live, the only place I can go and watch them play is at Miller Motorsports Park

Re: nice car

True. The 2003's are kind of like a red headed freckled kid.

Now I do have to laugh at that one!:D

And, pathoguy, you are right about Greensburg! I spend the first half of every curious onlooker's time first explaining what car it is...then get to the specifics. "Yes thats a V10", "Its a manual, not automatic, all of them are" "No it doesnt have a flux capcitor" "Man, have you even SEEN Back To The Future???? This definitely isnt a time machine" Small towns...gotta love living there, but WOW!!! :dunno:

Ok, I'll bite. Not because I have a Gen 3, but because if I am correct, Vipers 2003 to 2009 share basically the same body style...with the exception of later years getting an updated hood. Some verts, some not. I guess I don't consider 2003-2009 Vipers red headed freckled kids. Every Gen has it's own characteristics that appeal to their owners. What I will say about 2003-2009 years is the body styling is a bit more subtle and less bold than Vipers before or after those Generations. But that is exactly what I like about that generation...

No, I am not red headed or freckled either. :rolaugh:
