My '05 has recently been having a problem with the start button. Push the start button and totally dead.
I found that if I push in the clutch and move the shifter in or out of gear then push the start button it always starts, even though it may take a couple of tries.
Don't know if it's the starter, switch or something else that is broke or about to break and cause the engine to not start at all......so I'm anxious to find the cause and fix it.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who had this problem and found the fix?
Thanks!

I don’t want to go out and try to start my car without pressing the clutch as I always do, but there is probably a clutch safety switch which needs to be engaged in order for your ignition to work when you press the Start Button. It can only be engaged when you press down on the clutch pedal. This is to prevent you from trying to start the car while it's in gear. Just a safety feature they installed in cars a long time ago. Although rental cars in Costa Rica don’t have it, ask me how I know! LOL! Taking it out of gear or changing gears has nothing to do with it.
