998 Recall - Chicago Region

Hey Chicago Viper Owners,
Has anyone had this recall performed yet and if so, where? The dealer I go to has stated it takes about 4 days and my scheduled appointment isn't until the middle of Sept. which I think is too long of a wait (I wanted a Monday appointment so hopefully I would have my car back by the end of the week). I am wondering where the best place would be to have the service performed right the first time and in a timely manner.

Although its a trek it might be worth sending the cars up to Duluth to have Archer do it. Pretty extensive recall, not one I'd feel comfortable with the average dealer tackling. Archer has been shipping 4 at a time to and from the Twin Cities area.

Where in Chicago do you live? I asked the Dodge dealership in my area, ( will remain nameless), about this work . They told me they didn't have the skill to perform the work. Make sure your Dodge dealship has a qualified person.

One of the best Viper techs around is located at Roanoke Motors near Peoria,Ill (@150 miles South of Chicago). Dave R. runs the shop and does all of the Viper work. He has a big following from the Chicago Area. The recall is being handled in house. Give John Gastman a call for details at 1-800-541-6858.

Roanoke has done over 30 recalls so far. They know what they're doing.

I would go to Roanoke!

As for "timely manner":
There are about 6900 vehicles involved with these Recalls [999 & 998]. It may take one to four days for each vehicle after the inspection. Now there may only be 10 to 14 Shops/Dealerships in this Country that is equipped and has the knowledge to perform this complicated Recall! "You do the Math"
I'm now scheduling the first week in December!

I'll have enough to keep me busy for a year!!

DON'T PANIC! Do your research on this Board for Info about the Recall!

Thanks for the reply all -
I called Roanoke today and had a chance to talk with their Viper Tech David. I feel more comfortable dealing with them then the dealer I usually go with. They have done a handful and I was explained a little what was involved. They even have an in house welder as well which is a good thing.
