Another \"I love JonB\" post. + he may have saved my life (saftey related)

Ok, so a little exaggeration on the life part. But it was time to recertify my teamtech harness from 2 years ago. And in ATL, they are sticklers for the certification label... one day out of date, and they won't let you run on the track.

My 5 point harness was nice, but i'd always had 6pt harness envy. Even installed the 5 b/c I thought it was easier to install (read the instructions in the TECH section if you want to see how easy either one in to install). Well, after 2 years, I called JonB @ Partsrack to find out about recertification. He not only took great care of me, but he told me I could "upgrade" to a 6pt for a small fee. It was $30 or $50 or something to go from a 5pt to a 6.

$30 or $50?!?! I'm in!

I've heard some horror stories of the 5pts being dangerous in wrecks... and with my top secret project car about to be revealed, i need all the safety i can get.

Big thanks to JonB for turning that harness around in less than a week AND for getting me updated to a 6 point!!!

BTW - for anyone who is interested, the 6pt installs easier than the 5pt!!!

Glad to know that Jon stands behind what he sells. He always does time after time. He is also a wealth of information that is very unselfish with sharing his knowledge and experience. Just try not to ask any stupid questions! As he only has time for meaningful ones.

Many thanks for the kind words....... but I have to share SOME of the credit with Team Tech. As an ex SFI engineer, the TT owner is also a safety stickler, and makes it easy to update and upgrade Team Tech belts. PartsRack makes it fast and CHEAP, especially on belts purchased from us in the 1st place, as Joe found out!

If you have never used a 6-pt, the 'secure in the seat' feeling is much better than 5pts. Better car control, due to holding you down and in. Especially Auto-X would benefit! It keeps your legs/knees/thighs secure in a rollover. It prevents you Kneeing Your Own Chin (ouch!) in a wreck. SCCA GCR-s changed in 2/05 to require 6, 7, or 8 points after expirations of belts built after that date. The 6pt is THAT MUCH safer. And as Joe sez, Its easier to install.

Tommy Archer DOES credit a 6-pt Team Tech Ram Pack harness with saving his life in a 2002 ACR testing event. Terrible, scary accident. Some injuries, but major protective results.

BE SAFE OUT THERE!

Re: Another

I gotta tell you... I strapped into the 6pt today and it is a world of difference from the 5pt. I don't know how I missed this before. soooooooooo much nicer.

Thanks again, JonB!!!
