Well the reason I have questions about the race are that while reading about the race, the 1st thing I come across is that Tommy Archer came in second place. Then about an hr later I go back to read about the race and notice that the driver standings are different. Upon reading the driver standings I find DSQ beside Tommy's name under the Mid-Ohio column? Does anyone know why or is it just another way to keep the Viper's down? It's bad enough that they make them breathe through straws and carry an extra 100lbs.

Something about the gearbox not in compliance.

What would not be in compliance with the gearbox?

What "illegal" modifications can one make to the gearbox?

Gear ratios maybe?

Too short a shift lever?

Olive oil instead of gear lube?

I do not know all the rules in this series but this sounds absurd in my book.....

Somebody out there is really picking on the Viper and we can all guess who is behind it (who has the most to gain from this blatant lack of sportsmanship?).

That's all the story said. I read it here: http://www.scca.com/index.asp It sounds completely b.s. to me. Amazingly though, as much as they weight down the car and put in a restrictor to keep the field "competitive" Tommy still managed to come in 2nd place. They'll probably make Vipers run with 3 wheels instead of 4 next just to keep it "competitive".
