What did you like about the 3.33 that you did not like about the 3.55 gears? Only 300 miles? A lot of effort for only 300 miles. Can you give us what your RPM's are at say 60 mph in 4Th, 5Th, and 6Th with each gear set? How much do you want?

i found myself cruising around in 4th gear more often, with 3.33s i was in third....
i just liked where my revs were for most of my driving with the 3.33s.

if you like burnouts the 3.55s are awesome!
seriously though, im not really trying to debate the pros and cons, as the gears are fairly close together.

as far as "a lot of effort," maybe sorta....changing gears in a viper really isnt much different than any other car....but be that as it may i have a gear set sitting in my garage....if anyone is interested shoot me an offer.

"Whose" 3.55's are they. I have learned that there are several manufacturers out there. Some are cryo treated, some are not, some were designed for less horsepower applications.

thanks

How much difference is noticed in a 3.21 over a stock 3.07, I would think it wouldn't be much......:dunno:

Which is exactly my point :) People who usually do the 3.33 do it because they are NOT trying to get a ton of mechanical advantage on their tires, but rather just a little pick me up. Thats usually because they are making a lot more power then stock.

In my case that is also true, so I dont want to go crazy with 3.54+ or even a 3.33 (but would take a 3.33 if thats as low as I could find). But the 3.21's just came out at Unitrax, and I ran a ton of calculators on the set up, and for me they are perfect.

Keep in mind if you drag race and road race, you actually want different gears for each, so I believe the 3.21 is a good hybrid. It gives you a little more kick/push off the line, not bad enough to make the wheels spin a lot more, and not enough to make your gears too short on a LONG road course, but STILL good enough to get me into BOOST sooner.

Also the 3.21 has a STRONGER yoke then all others, so its recommended for guys making excessive power... :) (although I dont qualify under that.. lol)

I don't think it will provide much of a noticable difference either.....but Jon is running a small tire so his gearing overall is lower anyway.

hey guys...
correct, I have the 3.33s in my car already.
as for power, the only mods are corsa cat back and a sean roe tune.
as for price I'm looking to get 325 plus shipping.
the gears were in the car maybe 200 miles.
and I'm selling just the gear, not the whole carrier.
thanks!

And you drag race and road race how much?

Leave these calculations and such to the big boys who actually drive their vipers at the track, not just these *** *** 3rd to 4th gear pulls.

You on the other hand went way stupid with 3.55s in your gen 3 with paxton... WAY too much gear. Thats barely right for a completely stock viper.

Oh well, you can watch me beat up on your boyfriend at the track.

HAHAHA!!! ok BIG BOY I'll leave the calculations to you and your trusty F-body.org gear calculator .....here's a tip...in the interest of acuracy, you might want to figure the tires true rolling circumfrence into your calculations....If you need some help here I can jot the method down on a piece of scratch paper and you can stuff it into your little pocket protector.

I road race and drag race NEVER....I've built countless differentials and know from experiance that you will hardley tell the difference between a 3.07 and a 3.21.

btw....these stupid 3.55's helped me smoke you pretty handley.:rolaugh: You'll probably say those events never happend either:rolleyes: HAHAHA!!!....but I'm content just me and the other guy being the only witnesses;)

Anyway, the closest drag strip is over 2 hours away and after dealing with trying to get a broken car home from there, twice...it's not worth the trouble.

I 'd love to go watch you guys but don't have the time.....so have fun watching Mikes tail lights!!! :drive::lmao:

You break **** because you dont know how to drive, and your cars are POSs. Anyways, congrats ont your supposed differential skills, if they are anything like your tire poping skills, I'll certainly be waiting for you to be replacing your diff from a qualified mfg'er like Unitrax.

As for Road racing?? When ?? Where... come join mike and I and we'll whoop your ass with ease. You beat us with your 10 lbs pulley, ready to blow motor, not your stupid ass 3.55 gears, that even you say you HAVE to shut down after you shift to 4th, because you get eaten up after that. So as usual you're all blow and no go... You're drivel is at least entertaining. You talk big, but wont legitimately line them up with me at a drag strip.

Go back to popping tires you little BWitch.

And let me know when you grow a set and wanna try it officially at a track. A few new mods will make short work of you and your ticking time bomb!

My diff will pop sooner rather than later since I'm still running the stock hydra-lok...the S/C is putting much more stress on that and the 3.55's are putting even more pressure on it.

<KNOCK! KNOCK!! KNOCK!!!> HELLO MCFLY!!! I said "I NEVER" road race or drag race... and you are right I don't have the skills for either but in an everyday type situation I recall looking over to where your car was and noticed it had moved into my side view mirror instead...I got you were it counts. Go ahead and make your new mods....I'll react accordingly:drive:......with that... WHY DON'T YOU MAKE LIKE A TREE AND ****!!:D

no need...as much as I would like to say I would kick Jons a$$,
I know if not for my lack of launching skills...my low gearing/hydral-lok and the 345/25/20 p-zero's wont give me enough traction to compete with Bif over there and his ps2/dragradials/weak sauce 3.21/quaife combo:dunno:

Niether me nor my car is set up for launching

we'll go out and play but I know Jon will take me from a dig.:(

God I wish he would... I HAVE called him out, I am STILL calling him out... and he STILL wont race me at a track.

He does hill billy drag racing 101. Where your already rolling and someone says GO..
and you PRAY you both launch at the VERY same moment, and the winner is the guy who doesnt shut down first... Pretty phuckin stupid system. I'd rather a Tree tell him how bad I just kicked his ass.

Oh well... since he's got no ballz, and just a big mouth, thats never going to happen.

Mr. Assvedo,

Please accept this note as recognition of your inevitable victory over me at the drag strip. I regret to inform you that I will not be running the viper for the simple fact that in it's current form there is no way it would be competitive against your mighty quarty mile machine. I will list a few more reasons for declining your request. Weight transfer is needed to help a car launch well at the track. I have ultra stiff moton suspension that will not allow the excessive suspension travel your worn out stock shocks provide. Traction is equally important. I am running ultra low profile Pirelli's which look awesome but are no match for traction provided by your funny looking yet effective, under sized drag radials. I have 3.55 gears which make the car fun to drive but don't help me launch any better. You have almost stock 3.21 gears AND a quaife....anyone who has experianced a quaife knows it is a huge advantage over the stock hydra-lok. Unfortunatly for both of us I did not build this car to be a quarter mile machine. I built it to play with around town. Taking a day off work only to be defeated by you and then listening to your BIG MOUTH blather on about the victory day after day does not intelligent use of my valuable time. So enjoy your trip to Sacramento and please do not be sad when Mike beats you and the day is over....when you come home I will still be here to kick your Azevedo some more HAHAHAHA ..!.. ..!..

Sincerely,

Your Daddy

blah blah.. blah...

So you call yourself my daddy, but freely admit I will own your ass? Yeah, your pretty much ********.

And when I take down your boyfriend, please dont break up with him, I know how vicariously you live through him, but alas, you homo's can still comfort each other with your crying and hand holding after I am done.

YOU AND YOUR BOYFRIEND ARE OWNED.

Thanks for playing.. u lose.

The problem I have with this, is that when I call you out for being the biggest twit on the forums, its going to look like I am calling out/making fun of mike.

Mike and I talked about going to the track all week, and right from the get go, I was expressing my concern for the high 90's day it was going to be, to what was going to be an at best high 80s night. And .. low and behold.. I was correct.

Mike did very well at pulling an 11.3x @ 128.xx I believe, and we chatted about how good that was GIVEN the heat soaked day he was fighting against. However, he did not beat my record of 10.x @ 131.xx and its not because he possibly couldnt, but becasue that type of weather was CERTAINLY not going to allow it at our power levels.

Point being, I chose not to go, was up front with him all week long about it NOT being the best day to go, and I was completely on the fence about wasteing my time driving 2.5 hours each way, to fight for times on a heat soaked day.

Kurtis, please stop hiding behind the shadow of Mike's nuts. You talk about him, like he's your cloned DNA twin, and if he wins, then you win. It doesnt work like that Kurtis, you're a nut *******, and even though you grasp tightly to mikes furry ones (assumed furry, you could inform of otherwise), it does NOT make you mike.

Man up, show up to a track, and I promise I will be there. Because even with heat soak, spanking you would be a trivial task.. basically I'd just do a blind kick between mike's legs, thereby actually kicking you in the face as you swing securely safe gaurding his precious nuts.

Jon
