I have Pennsylvania Classic plates on my 96 GTS. The title is branded "C" for Classic.
They do have a Collectible brand which I think is for cars that are modified - that actually applies to mine but I really haven't kept up on the latest law - they keep changing it so I quit checking it...
I like Hagerty: They offer collector car insurance ranging from garage kept to parked in driveway. They also don't care about your required non-collector car with normal insurance.
I hate JC Taylor: All collector cars have to be in a garage AND your required non-collector car with normal...
To bead, or not to bead... that is the question.... (arf arf)
The plot thickens.
First, I was wondering what the fancy red "can" was on yours - had no idea of the tube thread. NOTE: I can't believe the rib design would blow out. Mine is so tight, I sometimes have to reposition my hand on...
Flipping the stick, great idea, clearly easiest fix. Mine is twisted at the very end, could hammer that flat if required.
(or find a doner and TIG an extension on the top end where no one would notice)
If I want to get a correct stick, do they all have the "snap-can" on them?
From the parts...
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the pics and measurements. Unfortunately, (LOL) you've now opened what I feared would become a Can of Worms. I guess the "long story" needs told:
Original owner installed the late Gen 2 oil pan on the 1996 GTS and scribed a new FULL mark on the dipstick which is 1-1/4"...
I think I'm going to just tap off the main power stud out in the open. Have a Blue Sea 4 circuit fuse block that fits nicely - and the corresponding ground block for the rocker panel stud. Don't want to hide wiring since a lot going on.
NEXT QUESTION: (will probably post separate thread...
Was planning on the M10 power stud on the main fuse box but saw some articles of ways to tap using "tapping" fuse adapters.
Not keen on adding load to an existing fuse but something like cigarette lighter would be a candidate.
Are there any unused fuse or relay stations that have battery on one...
Here is a link to supposedly the 1996 only RT/10 dipstick. It is NOT like mine. Mine has the "cup" or "can" at the top (See my pic posted previously). It alsp appears to have two twists: one at the end and one 3-4" away...
The new ones have "fingers" to keep window pin in center of slot. The old one did not.
QUESTION: Use "fingers" or grind out?
QUESTION: Anyone make higher quality ones? (These cost $8 shipped from Amazon - why pay $20 for garbage when you can pay $8 LOL!)
These are everywhere on eBay FOR...
Just researching part numbers on MoparPartsGiant and check out the oil pump pickup tube in the 2002 Viper (!) LOL
The 1996 "Viper" has unique part #'s for the Indicator and Tube: 5245899 (what I have) and 5245898
So you have one set of numbers for 92-95 and another for 97-02.
So the...
The plot thickens, digging into this, the dipstick in my 1996 GTS is a 1996 RT/10 dipstick 5245899 with dimensions: (what's worse is that this part number is listed as 1996 RT/10 only - and the pic from a Viper parts supplier of the part does not look like mine as far as that "cup" feature at...
I'm thinking worn window channels may be to blame - especially since the windows seem slow. Just got some Honda Shin Etsu silicone grease which many swear by.
Still haven't decided where to buy the shuttles - try to find quickest shipping I guess (better get a move on...
These clips are everywhere for cheap on eBay, etc.
Is there a better grade available? (wouldn't be surprised the OEM used a different material like fiber reinforced nylon instead of just plain)
Also wondering if I'm doing something wrong having replaced 3 LHS and 1 RHS on my 96 GTS over the...
It's all Bill Gates fault! I had a dozen XP boxes all sharing total C-drives training neural networks - backups were A to B, B to C, C to A. I can't even get 2 Win10 boxes to network properly and the HDD failed before I could figure out the networking solution. What makes it worse is that I...
I have a 1996 GTS:
Is there a pic of this "roof" key slot in the "glove box?" There is a rear console storage area with door - is this the "glove box?" Also I have the FSM and there is no mention of this feature.
I'm dealing with a bizarre occurrence:
*) Parked and locked car
*) 6 hours...
These existed many years ago, I think thru Roe Racing. There may have even been CD's.
I need parts manuals for 1996 and 2002 GTS: part numbers for oil pan, dipstick tube and dipstick.
Thanks
Tom
PS. I had these but I'm pretty sure they went bye bye when my HDD crashed on my primary computer...
Yes, it records BARO the instant Key On before engine starts (and before it cranks I assume.)
From a distant memory, BARO is used for some exhaust parameter since the MAP needs no adjustment for altitude because it is "absolute pressure."
I've drive over 8000' and HP loss is around 100. HP...
Curious to know how fueling/timing behaved since there is only KEY-ON BARO input into the PCM. If you start at the base, that locks in the barometric pressure until the engine is shut off.
Are these like the original PS that get high mileage and OK in cold weather? Getting 40k on a daily driver set of tires should be an option one would think. Easy on the frame cracking too.
