I purchased a Wheel Skin and covered my steering wheel. The feeling of the steering wheel was terrible. Too Thick!!!
I then purchased a black Viper steering wheel from Ebay with torn leather. I unwrapped it. Used the Wheel Skin I had and re-wrapped my steering wheel.
If you are a...
Additional information I had gathered while looking for ABS controller options.

There is no comparison to ABS. It is a MUST have. Conversion was very difficult and time consuming, especially since I wanted an abs light in my message center in the dash.
Here are my notes since I do not visit this site very often. You can email me if you have further questions at...
Valaya Racing I believe in California has been adding ABS. Last time I checked it was around $10,000. I am guessing that is for all new parts. I did my own with used parts off an 01-02 system.
After you flat spot a pair of front tires from just driving around town and having to do a panic stop, you will know the value of ABS. The 708 cam is over-rated and the neutral gear rattle is sometimes annoying. I believe there might even be other improvements such as the window and window...
have you found the problem? Did you check fuses, inspect the abs sensors at each wheel to see if a sensor is broken or wire pinched or burnt. I thought the abs unit did a self check when the ignition was turned on. I dont believe anything with the booster or vacuum is monitored by the abs unit.
From what I recall reading in the service manual, I would think it should be installed between the master cylinder and the ABS unit. The abs unit doesnt operate until speeds are 25 MPH and above, and has to have the brake switch active as an input signal to operate the abs unit. So that means...
There used to be an illustrated upgrade article that showed how to set the cables correctly. I do not know where it went.
There is an important step you are missing. LOCK the cables from moving after they are adjusted. you will need to add a screw to each cable adjuster as per the TSB...
My 1997 GTS has ABS, it is the 2001-2002 system that I installed on my car. There are some earlier systems that were added to some Vipers, but not very many. If the car had added on ABS, it would definately be mentioned as added on ABS in the Ebay ad.
Valaya Racing has been doing this...
As far as I remember only the roof and the long sections on the hood worked as straight 8" wide pieces, but they will still need to be pulled into position. I did NOT use any heat. I believe that if the vinyl was stretched that it changed color.( thinner let more of the body color show...
I had no experience doing vinyl, until I decided to stripe my GTS. For me it was going to be a test run on what yellow stripes looked like on a red GTS. I did not want to have them painted on and not like the end result. If I didn't like it I was just going to peel them off. In the end I...
Tom, I did not change the rear calipers, its all the same 97 brake system, just with the ABS unit added. The ABS unit has electronic brake proportioning I would have swapped out the rears if they would have been a straight bolt on, but then I would have wanted to change the master cylinder. I...
No kit to do an ABS conversion, although that would have been nice. I collected all the parts, and made it a winter project to install. I believe Valaya Racing will install ABS, and have done several.
I have a 97 GTS. Everyday driving, panic stop while actually trying to modulate the brake pedal. Flat spotted the front tires. Imagine the cost difference once an insurance claim is made.
I bought the parts from Paul Scharf from a 2001-2002 and installed the ABS myself. NO COMPARISON! The...
I was thinking that the prancing snake was different between the RT/10 and the GTS. I had some different sizes made up for mine and went with 2.5" heigth.
I also changed the emblems on the sides and the back bumper with the factory ones from a 2001. The 2001 color is not the same as the 96-97...
I wish I had driven a Viper with the 3.55 before I installed it into mine. It is too tall of a gear for me. I would recommend something in the 3.30's as a good alternative.
