Overheating issue - Thermostat or Water Pump?

Thanks everyone. Hopefully I'll get some time this week to dig in, and I'll report back. I'll vent/burp again first using tips provided, then go from there..... But after reading all these responses, looks like I might be replacing the water pump. ab - not sure about leakage by weep hole...

Overheating issue - Thermostat or Water Pump?

Cool. Haven't tried that yet. Been squeezing the sh*t out of the upper rad. hose that goes into thermostat. How about the coolant system bleed plug on the thermostat housing? Anybody ever remove that thing, and if so what kind of tool? I'm going by memory here, but it seems to be an odd...

Overheating issue - Thermostat or Water Pump?

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I burp, and burp, and burped again. Over several days... Is it possible there's still air in the block, and if so how do I get it out? Keep burping, or something else? Is there a procedure for an uber-burp? BTW #1 - Yes, coolant level in facia bottle is AOK...

Overheating issue - Thermostat or Water Pump?

Hello Viperholics, Recently my 1998 Viper GTS has been having problems getting hot (240-250 degrees) and eventually overheating if I don’t shut down (FYI - normal 70 degree day). The symptoms are as follows: Start the car, drive normally for a while, and the temperature steadies at 190...

    Woodward Dream Cruise - HELP!!

Wow! Cool event and worth the 4 hour drive. Darkostoj, saw your Viper. Very nice. I also have a Gen II Silver, but with blue stripes. We walked from 13th mile to Birmingham (guessing about 2-3 miles), then back up the other side. Only saw about 3 Gen II coupes, yours + red one +...

    Woodward Dream Cruise - HELP!!

THANKS for the quick response!!! Extremely pumped!!! Based on your advice, it looks like there is a shopping center at 13 mile and Woodward - Northwood Shopping Center. Once we find side parking, we'll make that our home location. Any other advice on kick-asp places to eat (not...

    Woodward Dream Cruise - HELP!!

Hello everyone, Kind of last second, but I'll be arriving in Detroit tomorrow around noon. I want to check out the dream cruise all day, and don't have a clue. Where is the best place to sit and just check out the event? Or at least a cool place to begin? We've got our lawn chairs :smirk...

    Wet Sanding?????

Interesting article. It sounds like a good idea on small areas of imperfections. But 3,000 grit? Wow, it would take forever to wet sand a car with 3,000, and cost a fortune. But it is an interesting alternative for small areas. And as started, should still be done in the hands of someone...

    Wet Sanding?????

Let me save you a BUNCH of time + possible damage to your car (Very easy to go thru clear with sand paper in inexperienced hands). Take it to a professional and have it rotary buffed. Not orbital, rotary. This should only cost $100-$200 bucks. Wet sanding would be a LAST resort. A pro will...

    Viper prices

Used OEM Viper seats are cheap. 4 bolts and put a nice set of used OEM seats in the car. Who would be the wiser? Therefore, no, aftermarket seats will not effect resale by more than +/-$1,000.

    Viper prices

IMO the Gen II's have reached bottom. Matter of fact, they reached bottom about 3-4 years ago. Sure, the prices have fluctuated a few grand up or down, but pretty much stayed constant. They're only going to stay put or go up from here.... How fast they appreciates is up for debate, especially...

08 Goes 11.13 today at OSW!!

Geez, I can't believe some of what I'm reading. Especially from experienced drag racers. Track prep, elevation, weather, car break in, etc... all play a huge factor. The one behind the steering wheel is the biggest. Not to mention the amount of runs/times at the track. Of course there is going...

when and what will gen I prices bottom out at?

With the closing of the Conner Assembly Plant + DC changing hands + rumors of the Viper being discontinued, I doubt it will bottom out any time soon. Matter of fact, prices seem to be climbing in spite of the winter months approaching. If you're going to buy, I say buy now. Because if the Viper...

    The Viper Wizard Rules!

Viper Nation, Just wanted to give a shout out to Chuck Tator (AKA - Viper Wizard). He never ask for thanks or recognition, but deserves it! He is a true asset to the Viper community. Not only did he get me a low cost 'hard to get' part very quickly, but helped me out with a vehicle appraisal...

Great......Nail in rear tire. 335/30-18 Pilot Sport

Hmmm.... Who told you that? Someone that sells tires, or Michelin. Now I can't vouch for two patches in a tire, but here is what Michelin told me when I had to put in my first patch several years ago... But don't take my word for it, I would call Michelin. I don't want your widow posting...

Can anyone Identify this exhaust? Is it Corsa?

Yep. Same as mine. 2.5' Corsa. Now go to your nearest tunnel and open it up. Music to the ears....

Can anyone Identify this exhaust? Is it Corsa?

I'll look at mine when I go home to verify 100%, but I am 95% sure it is a 2.5' Corsa (which is what I have). Before Corsa started making the 3.0', they only sold a 2.5'. It sounds incredible and flow as well as the 3.0' for a car making under 550HP. Big HP cars might gain a little switching to...
