Is sealant required/recommended for the timing cover gasket? I normally use RTV ultra black sealant on gaskets but not sure about this one.
Thanks for any suggestions.
My first mod to a stock 95 was the Roe exhaust. I have to say I wasn't impressed with it. I would check out fabricating a high-flow cat and spiral flow muffler system - should be half the price of the Roe system and probably sound better. Check out Summit Racing for the spiral-flow. I'm a Roe...
Least Desirable Viper Color? Why not Most Desirable Viper Color? What is the purpose of this poll? Discouraging that so many here voted for this trash.
Yes, the spiral flow and Roe pipe on each side. I have not dynoed since adding the spiral flow but I suspect it costs at least 5% horsepower - I can feel the backpressure in the throttle response in the top end.
The spiral flow addition is well worth it, my 6 year old daughter actually...
Going on 2 years with my ROE blower and a PBJ tune - it's become so regular that sometimes I forget I'm driving a car with 700 ft/tq.
My only complaint after the first year was noise - I solved that by installing a spiral-flow muffler in place of the straight pipe I used to replace the CAT...
If you cannot break your tires loose at almost any point in 1st or 2nd then your Viper is not running optimally. Switching gears only eliminates the advantage of the TQ generated by the big V10 - save your money and increase HP/TQ if you desire higher performance.
Gears are a cheap game for...
Are there any ROE cars in Chicago which have dealt with the emission tests ? I am trying to determine if I need to go through the hassle of putting the cats on.
Thanks
Don't waste time and money doing gears - you aleady have enough torque to shred your tires in 1st and 2nd. Save your money and do a Roe or Paxton blower, there is no substitue for power. Skip this beginner step, it will pay for tires and half shafts later on.
Has anyone failed an emission test on a Gen1 Roe system, any advise? I am trying to figure out if I need to put the cats back on to pass the test in the Chicago area.
Thanks
It seems impossible to access spark plugs without removing the Edelbrock header heat shields. Are there other heat shields available which allow better access to the plugs?
I am considering cutting out a larger plug access area in the existing heat shields.
I am finally considering new tires after many other upgrades (see signature). I have kept stock tires to this point (dangerous) only because of indecision about wheels. I have finally decided against wheels (for now) and want to continue the stock/sleeper look (how menacing can a green 95 look...
Your right, it does shake the house and periodically sets off car alarms even at low RPMs. I originally installed high-flow cats but the drone at low RPMs was unbearable. The exhaust without cats is definitely louder at WOT but seems more manageable around town.

I am in Lombard. Looking forward to see the results of your head/cam work - no doubt it will put down huge tq. Maybe I will see you at the VC meeting in April.
Round 3 upgrades on my 1995RT/10 are complete - I changed to a 10lb pulley (from 8) and 70MM throttle bodies. Joe Donovan (Performance by Joe) in St. Louis worked his magic and pulled out 624rwhp/698rwtq.
Current mods:
- Roe SC (10lb)
- 70 MM TB
- Meth
- Harland Sharp RR
- Edelbrock headers
-...
I installed Edelbrock headers on my 95 2 years ago. The car put down 413rwhp/479rwtq with the headers, 3" Roe pipe, no cats, and smooth tubes/filters (no base numbers available). After 5000 miles the headers look very close to new condition.
Having a Green 95 myself, if I really needed a paint job, given that I have already significantly modified the engine, I would choose a different color, probably red or black.
I have a Green 95 - I have considered a repaint to a "sportier" color many times - it depends upon who you are attempting to impress. At 650TQ at 3500RPM with a Roe SC, I think most friends who have experienced my Viper don't talk about the color. A quality paint job will cost 4-5000, spend a...
