sealant for timing cover gasket?

Is sealant required/recommended for the timing cover gasket? I normally use RTV ultra black sealant on gaskets but not sure about this one.

RTV is what we use, smear a coating on both sides of the gaskets.

I used Permatex, (I believe its the one called "black + sticky") No problems so far. Coat both sides, like The Mighty Oz has spoken. You did scrape off all the old gasket, right?
