1996 gts bellypan question..

there is a bellypan covering the drive shaft tunnel. is there supposed to be a bellypan further forward to cover bottom of engine? a friend says yes. i doubt it. he says he needs to remove the cover to access his oil filter. he has a 96 gts also.
