Hello everyone,
This is my first time posting and I’ve tried searching for previous posts on this same issues but couldn’t find any. I’m a new 2006 viper owner and everything was great until last week when the trunk latch won’t fully closed. It opened and closed fine the first few times and recently it keeps getting stuck and the trunk won’t close all the way down.

I’ve tried adding lithium grease but it keeps happening. I usually have to play around with the latch for 15-20 minutes and finally get it to close all the way but keeping it in a semi open/closed position and push it down so the latch catches.

Any advice or maybe even video of how to prevent this from happening or how to fix it?

Clean it first before greasing it (that goes for anything really) and look at it for broke or bent pieces, if it shifted, etc.

Then use a screwdriver or something to flip the latch closed and then open. See how it operates. When it closes to will spring closed. Check it on your other cars for comparison.
