Alrighty, once it again it's time see which of the well-heeled +1000hp Viper owners is going pull his car out of the climate controlled garage and onto a track against stiff competition.

Memphis May 12, 2007 is the place and date.

A 30 mile highway drive on supplied 93 octane, ending up at the track. Then it's race time.

75 cars will be accepted this year. Only 200 entered last year, so the odds of gaining entry might not be bad.

Page 76 of the February 2007 issue of Hot Rod Magazine tells it all, and there's even an entry form.

Rules of note:

DOT slicks max width unshaved tread 11.25" - Drag Radials have no max width

3300lbs minimum weight with driver at any time

Windows must roll up and down in OE manner.

I thought the winner last year was a farce. The Viper is a much more streetable car. Hopefully this year it will go to the rightful winner. Something that has a 10 cylinder :2tu:

I thought the winner last year was an old street rod that was barely street legal. Didn't the Viper come in like second or third? Or was that two years ago?

Huge advantage to the Big TT Vipers! No more gutted out, drag cars that can cruise on a street for a day a year! :D

The Viper last year won the standing mile contest but broke at PGD. I think standing mile events should start getting telivised personally. So far I have only seen mag pics of wheels spinning after 100 mph. Those same cars do poor in 1/4 mile because of traction issues.

Have you missed all the World Records Viper TTs have set over the past couple years in the 1/4 ? Full street 7 second cars. 184 mph is where Underground raised the bar just last week! :headbang:

These cars are not made for the 1/4, but they have adapted quite well! :D
