I posted my srt10 1/4 mile progession on the local supra forum and a GTR buddy of mine with a 620 awhp GTR decided he wanted to give it a try

He saw my prgression and decided he wanted to take me down a notch....his car is built by SP engineering and is 620 awhp on his low boost pump gas setting and 800 awhp on his high boost c16 setting..

he went to my same spot with my same testing gear and made four passes..

He anticipated 10.9-11.2 at 130 mph and 0-60 in the low 3's....

The time to beat was our other friends mild cam C6Z06 that went 11.93 at 123.5 with 0-60 of 3.9 seconds at the same spot with the same testing gear and of course my current record holding 11.67 at 122.7 and 0-60 in 3.6 seconds...

His first pass he let off a bit early and ran a 11.9 at 120 mph..

His second pass was a 12.2 at 122 mph

His third pass was a 12.0 at 122 mph..

his final and best pass (and get this) was a 11.68 at 128.6 mph 0-60 in 3.8 seconds

The Z06 and GTR can both pull me by 1-2 cars from 50-130 mph roll raceing..

but the viper is still the champ because a 11.67 is faster than a 11.68 BABY!!!!!!!!!!

I gave him hell and with his trapp speed Im sure the next time he uses my gear he will probally beat my time..

But for now the mild bolt on viper is still on top

The following cars have been tested at this location useing my FX2 timer

-98 supercharged auto camaro=14.9 at 93 mph( best ever at drag strip=15.1 at 91 mph)

-stock 2004 auto corvette=13.3 at 105 mph(best ever at drag strip=13.5 at 104)

-stock manual 2005 nsx=13.1 at 107 mph( no drag strip runs)

-stage1 auto E55AMG=12.5 at 111 mph (best ever drag strip 12.7 at 110 mph)

-Mild head and cam auto corvette=12.6 at 113 (best ever drag strip=12.8 at 111)

-1999 Viper stock 410 rwhp=12.4 at 117 (no drag strip runs)

-1999 Viper with bolt ons/aem tune at 445 rwhp=12.0 at 121 mph (no drag strip runs)

-1997 Supra with Big Turbos at 700 rwhp=12.0 at 126 mph (no drag strip runs)

-2007 Z06 with intake and mild tune 500 rwhp=11.93 at 123.5 mph (no drag strip runs)

-2009 GTR with SP built turbos at 620 awhp=11.68 at 128.6 mph (no drag strip runs)

-2003 Viper with mild bolt ons and 476 rwhp=11.67 at 122.7 mph (no drag strip runs)

The GT-R with 629AWHP should get closer to or below 3s to 60. Did the car have First gen (higher RPM) launch control or the second gen? Or was LC even used at all?

I asked him about that ... I thought 0-60 in 3.8 was pretty slow for an 620 awhp car. He said he wasnt useing somthing with the L. C. because he was scared to bust his trannie and his pcm would record it and it would possibly void his waranty if the dealersdhip saw?????????????

His best run was as follows

2.1 60 foot
1/8 7.55 at 100. mph
0-60 mph in 3.8
1/4 11.68 at 128 mph

Useing bthat agressive launch stuff Im sure a 1.9 60 foot would be easy and a 11.2 at 127-129 would come no problem with 0-60 in a much more respectable 3.5 seconds..

*no reason that car shouldnt be capable of 1.7-1.8 60 foots and 10's*

whatever timer you're using is bogus, pickup a VBOX.....

Actually i tested it out at the actual drag strip well over 50 times and compared it's results to my actual time slips and it is VERY accurate.

the 60 is dead on..the 1/8 ET and MPH is dead on and the 1/4 mph Et is only off by 1.5 mph and 1.5 tenths at most..Sometimes dead on as well

Yea but me and the other cars are all useing the same gear..You'll never see me put an 11.6 at 122 mph in my sig. But for comparisons for new mods or just going against some buddies for times it's pretty good.

I went and looked up the vbox. there are many differant models and it was confusing..What Vbox would you recommend

I think gtrs trap speed is was to low for a 620awhp car. There are many gtrs with tune and exhaust that are trapping high 120s and most are between 500-530 awhp. Look at FikseGTS's, he trapped 129 with 500awhp. Nice runs through. Did you take any video?

yea we made a few vids of the GTR from in car during the 1/4 mile..
As far as the trapp speed. Mine is also a lil low at only 122.7 for a 476 rwhp srt10..Especially my friends 500 rwhp C6Z06 that only went 123.5..

But we are at 1000 feet elevation in Hawaiian always raining weather..

Update Run 60' 1.87 0 to 60 3.524 330' 5.016 1/8 mile 7.585 @ 98.67 1000' 9.769 1/4 11.606 @123.43

Are yhou kidding me...That is outstanding for such minmial mods...

was this at the same drag strip you always go to or a new area?

98 mph in the 1/8 is VERY fast..WOW..maybe that ported intake manifold you had done really is worth some power????

What are your mods again???Any vids???

I have a few videos on YouTube. Just search MrCanyon707 A coupe weeks ago I raced a 800+ hp viper. I lost but it was really close I have that video up. I think the difference was at this track the wind is always against you. This day it was with us and my launches were better and like I mentioned before the tires made a big difference. No spin at 25.5 psi My Mickey Thompsons I was getting 3rd gear scratch so this is a big improvement. Also a launch light and shift light helps. You know how busy it gets at the launch line.

Update Run 60' 1.87 0 to 60 3.524 330' 5.016 1/8 mile 7.585 @ 98.67 1000' 9.769 1/4 11.606 @123.43

It's definitely quick, but I wouldn't say it's very fast. We had a mildly warmed over evo running a standard 35R turbo back in 2005 that couldn't 60' to save its life. Best I was able to get out of it was a 2.4 60" due to the lack of a two step and a huge back housing and it still ran a 7.77 at 99mph in the 1/8th. Point of me typing that....I would expect a GTR to beat the dog $hit out of that time. It's very confusing to me why Nissan would build a car that has all the bells and whistles to be ridiculously competitive and then when you activate them they void your warranty....and the transmissions are made of glass. Very expensive $20k to replace kinda glass.

Although, if you're talking about the Viper running those times N/A...then yeah that is VERY fast.

The car is a 04 viper. The other thing that I thnk improved the time is shifting. Earlier on the shift time was about.5 seconds multiply it by 3 and you get 1.5 seconds of no power to the wheels. I have tried to work on that and also not letting off the throttle completely. It does make a difference. Lots to do when splitting hairs or seconds.

Well this has been an ongoing battle. I belieave canyon707 is a great driver. His short times and placement in the brackets reflect this..But his track IMHO just isnt one of the faster ones. Id say it a slow-medium track.

Their have been guys that went 11.5 at 122 or 11.7 at 123 mph at other tracks 100% stock. I dont think they can drive any better than canyon707. Again I think his track just isnt that great. rather it's the elevation/humidity/track prep/incline/wind/ect. I have no idea..

But most days even with his mods he trapps in the 118-121 mph range..

So it was truly refreshing to see that 11.6 at 123 mph..Finally the weather ect improved and showed what his car is truly capable of. It was NOT the first time that he had mph'd so high. But it had been quite a while. I belieave his last outing to the same track only revield 119 mph trap speeds. So he picked up 4 mph on this outing.

So Im mostly just excited about his progress. The 11.6 is getting it done nicely. And considering he can still do headers/exhaust /cat delete/light weight flywheel/underdrive pulley/thermostat..
It will be interesting to see were he can take his bolt on Viper to in ET/MPH..

As always I look forward to his post

Canyon..I was watching this vid of your viper against a zo6

and thought your car would look great if you had the rear turn signals and brake lights also blacked out...I had them on my srt110 as well as the front. I got them from Bluebatmobile

Yes I thought about doing that also. That vette also a regular at the track. Bud has a really fast car and I thought for sure I would lose to him. Its all about driving in this one. Reaction times told the story here. So I am currently installing a twin disk carbon fiber clutch. The flywheel is a bit heavier than stock but the whold assembly is 25% lighter. Also setting up a clutch pedal stop to keep my foot from going all the way to the floor shifting gears.
