\'98 GTS rims clear coated?

Reading through the specs on the different rims used from year to year, does anyone know on the '98 GTS if the rims were just raw polished aluminum or clear coated? It appears that in '98 they went to a more highly polished rim than '97, but did they ever clear coat them? Did they clear coat any factory rims?

all gen2 wheels are factory clear coated, if they wasnt the polished aluminuim would corrode and the shiney look lost within a few weeks, even quicker if they get wet

Re: \'98 GTS rims clear coated?

I have a 98 GTS and from what I have learned is the 98 rims were Forged and the 96's & 97's were cast. This is the reason the 98's had a beter shine to them. They were all coated with a clear Powder Coat that was baked on. I have purchased a couple of wheels in the past that were listed as 98's but soon found out they were 97 or 96's and the sheen was not the same. If you have a 98 front wheel in excellent condition I would be interested in purchasing one.

Most (but not all) 1997's were also forged. Even so, the 1998 forged are more highly polished than 1997 forged and certainly more then either cast version.

Easy to tell difference between cast and forged.
