Anyone done this? I have the Borla catback on my 97 GTS, and it resonates too much, and is too loud in the cabin in general. I found some 3" Magnaflow mufflers on their website which look like they (2) can be welded into my system.

The muffler is 34" in length, 40" overall. Its part of their 7"(diameter) XL series. P/N 13740. Any input on this idea? I know there is a lot of knowledge out there, thanks for any help..

I had Borla catbacks on my 97 GTS when I bought it. I agree with you, they were way too loud for my taste and the drone drove me crazy. I switched to side exhaust. I heard, but cannot say for sure, that Borla catback system NOW comes with a rear muffler to solve that problem. Might be worth looking in to. Just a thought. :2tu:

Boral has two Viper exhuasts now. The twin muffler #14663 and the four muffler #140049. I just purchased the later 140049 model and just installed it but am getting my Cat bypass pipes Ceramic coated (sill heat ruduction) along with newly installed (out of production) ****** ceramic coated headers. Anyone out there used this newer Borla system yet? How does it sound? I was told by Borla it is a little mellower than the old and figured with my Cat delete this would be better. MGH

Why not sell the Borla System and buy something else? I was thinking about B & B system with out cats. Does anyone have this setup?

I guess I am trying to do something more affordable than buying a whole new $1000 plus system. I wonder if Borla will just sell the two rear mufflers from their new system?

It is worth asking, I would think. Tell them you have the Borla system and are UNHAPPY with it's exhaust note. If they know you discuss this on the Viper forum, maybe it will open some doors. Just a thought. :headbang:

I have the Magnaflo on my car, but no Borla Components. The more you add the quieter it should get. But I can't say if it will be where you want it when its done.

Yes,

I bought my 2001 GTS with the Borla on it 2 years ago. I absolutley hated the Drone.

I worked with a local muffler shop and tried a few things:

Mod 1 was adding an H pipe and 8" long 4" magnaflow type resonators and this mod did nothing.

Mod 2 was forgetting about the H pipe and put in 13" long 4" magnaflow type resonators and this mod lowered the volume slightley but did not eliminate the drone.

Mod 3 added two spintech mufflers with offset in/out which lowered the volume alot but for me the car still droned too much for me. This may be a good option for you if you are looking to lower the volume, the car will drone slightley at 1300 RPM and roar a little at 2000 but nothing like what you are getting now.
You can buy this kit from mufflex, http://www.mufflex-performance.com/home.html

Mod 4 - Installed a Corsa system and I love it. The Car sounds great and the drone is replaced with a bit of growl which I like.

My recomendation would be save up the $$ and put in a corsa. If $$ is a big issue then the mufflex solution may be a good way to go.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help guys! I think I'll just save up for the Corsa, I've heard nothing but good things about it.
