I searched through the site for awhile, but could not find much feedback on the TNT exhaust system...

I am looking to go with a 3" system; headers, high flow cats and everything, but I don't want something so loud that the neighbors will complain (somewhat normal at idling speed). So far I only have a K&N and smooth tubes.

The TNT system sounds like what I want because you can get long or short dynomax mufflers with the system. I am wondering if the long muffler will keep the noise from be too loud at idle, but still providing good sound at higher RPM's....

Any thoughts from anyone on what I am looking to do? Anyone in MI with a TNT system?

Thanks.

I don't have them but have heard nothing but good things about TNT headers. Very nice workmanship. They fit very nicely under the OEM heat shields for that "stock" look and heat protection. They are pricey however.

I have a full 3" system on my 97 GTS. The headers were custom fabricated by Ted May at Valaya Racing (408-448-8811) in San Jose, CA. and Corsa catback from JonB at Partsrack. As far as the volume is concerned, the real difference is in the cats. It made a world of difference going from stock cats to high-flow cats. No cats is just too loud and will get complaints from neighbors. With my setup its somewhat mellow at idle and cruise, and just plain mean at WOT.

Lots of opinions out there regarding headers and exhaust systems. It's very subjective so you should listen to them in person and ride in the cars. Just listening at idle or reving the engine while parked doesn't give you an accurate sound of what you get at cruise or WOT.

IMHO, Corsa has the best looking tips out there! :2tu:

I have TNT's full set up on my car...hedders, no cats, and 3" exhaust with a muffler in each sill. The only way to describe it is... LOUD !!! My co-workers say it sounds like a swarm of killer bees coming to take over the city. I like everything about the system except the coating on the hedders...it flakes off if you look at them the wrong way. I have noticed this problem on other cars with the same hedders. TNT says it is the way the hedders were pre-heated, I guess we all did it wrong. I personally like the way Bellanger makes their product, they have a flange at every connection. There is no sliding the pipe into each other and using band clamps that will eventually leak. It is a nice product all the way around. I think it is nicer than a lot of others out there. You need to base your purchase on the sound of the system, because they are all very different. I think most of the systems will give you about the same performace gains...and they all cost to much in my opinion. Hope that helps.
Later,
Joe

The most noticeable difference between headers is the collectors. Burns Collectors are the best in material and function. They seem to make the most flow and scavenging of the exhaust gasses (go to their web-sight for details). The only header brands that use Burns Collectors are TNT and SVS. I have the TNT headers and had them Jet-Hot coated before I installed them.

i have a system by TNT and while i like the sound, i wouldn't say it's extremely loud. i've gotten many compliments from fellow viper owners saying they like the sound, i wish it were louder than it is and i'll probably do a cat removal this spring.
