Best shop experience i\'ve ever had - Performance by Joe (PBJ) *LONG
I'm sure most of you have seen my other post with the progress and results of my car, but after this weekend i just can't say enough good things about Joe Donovan at PBJ. One thing i want to clear up is this is MY OWN words, experience, and I decided to write this and PBJ doesnt even know im doing it. I paid for thier services just like everyone else.
I scheduled this past saturday with Joe to bring my car down to have rockers installed and to have the Roe tuned. I arrived at PBJ around 10:30am from my 5 hour trip from chicago and Joe quickly got to work, wasting no time. Joe was VERY courtious and all around a really cool guy just to hang out with. He is definatly "one of the guys" and treats you the same.
After several hours of adding the rockers, his intake setup and tuning i looked over and it was 6pm. Jow spent countless hours with the car on the dyno squeezing out every last bit he could, while perfecting the AF's at 12.0 across the board for a safe yet powerful tune. We iced the blower down several times to achieve the best results we could without heatsoaking anything to bad. The car was finally done at around 7pm that evening and since it was too late to drive back i decided to stay the night. Joe so graciously invited me to stay at his home with his family for the night. It was an unbeleivable gesture on his part but i decided to stay at a nearby hotel just because i didnt want to be a burden. I left the car in the shop overnight and we all went out for dinner and Joe dropped me off at the hotel afterwards and picked me up in the morning. Talk about customer service.
There is ONE main reason why PBJ is so successful. Joe does ALL the work himself. I have been through dozens of shops with my last car and buildup and with most large shops after they become successful the owner (usually the guy who is the best wrench head) ends up sitting behind a desk letting his 18yr old mechanics work on cars. This is not the case at PBJ. Joes is one of the most knowledgable guys i know, and he can tune a car, ANY car, with any system. There is a reason why he's so backed up right now and if i needed any major work done, i'd wait in line as well because i know it would be done 100% with no shortcuts or mistakes.
The only thing i wish was that he was closer to chicago, because he would have 100% of my business. Joe Donovan and PBJ are definatly an asset to the viper community as well as the entire car scene.
Thanks PBJ for the excellent customer service and hospitality, you have a customer for life.
