I have my race car that I run in Pro Bracket and I have been thinking of selling it because I am not going to go as often anymore. I want to run my Viper But what about tech rules?
13.49 and quicker
- Convertible requires an approved roll bar
11.49 and quicker
- Driveshaft loop
- SFI seatbelt
- SFI bellhousing
- SFI flywheel and clutch
10.99 and quicker
- Approved after market axles
- SFI balancer
- SFI transmission shield
135mph and faster
- SFI window net
Does anyone run a car on a regular basis? Have you had to comply with any of these rules? What were you able to get away with? I know I will not have to comply with all of this now but I feel I will be running 11.49 soon and am going to set myself a goal of 10.99 and quicker and 135mph or faster. If I have to alter the car very much or change all of these things to pass tech I probably will not bother. I know some of you guys have run your cars even in test and tunes and Friday-Nite events please tell me about your tech. Thanks

I've been hit with the Jacket rule (which I now have), the lack of a cage is my problem (GTS). It is a hassle, as I usually get a couple of runs in before I get the boot. No other issues yet, as the car looks stock down to the wheels. I run Sport Cups so the tech's don't think it will run quick. Problem is, my Cups are gone and they don't make them anymore. Drag radials may throw up a flag?

It mostly depends on the individual tracks and how lenient they are about safety equipment. Some of them will cut more slack on a newer car, since they know they tend to be built safer and have airbags. Some tracks are very strict, and have zero tolerance for missing safety items.

Most common fouls they will call you on are related to running low 11s or quicker without a rollbar and fire jacket.

Depends on the individual track and what you race.

I have never had a full tech run on my car at a "local" event. Test and tune days they have looked at my seat belts at the most. Bracket runs they usually check the belts, Jacket, Helmet, fuel cell and that's about it.

Real events..... I have had them jack up my car to look for items. I keep my race car at 10.00, to bypass a lot of the rules.

MPH they have never checked except on my bike. It was always ET.

I have an 04 Vert and have had problems running on Infinion raceway dragstrip. I have an Autofrom rollbar 5 point harness and a helmet. Now I am adding a hardtop for my next season. Hopfully this will work bettter. I would have rather bought some other things but I guess it's one step at a time.
