Take it to a place that installs radios, alarms, etc. to check out how the alarm is wired and maybe fix the problem.

One possibility would be corrosion at wiring connections (especially near the battery).

That's probably the first place I would look.

Any disconnection/loss of battery power would set the alarm.

They have checked out the battery haven't they? (another possibility).

Although a little off-track, it could possibly have to do with the crank and cam position sensors being loose or going bad. A generic scan tool will be able to do a sensor/sender check. Simpler still (but not as thorough) is a blinky-code check from the message pod on the dash. Key ON-OFF three times, then ON. Count blinks for 2 digit codes. Codes will end with 5-5.

Laurie, the car cranks but won't start at all? When the alarm is in fuel shut off mode, generally the car will start but shut off within 2-3 seconds. The way I understand, the car just cranks with no starting at all. You said you engaged it on and off.(the alarm or the key?) I don't think you can activate the alarm with the key in the run position so you would have had to actuate alarm and then turn the key on to see if the pump was on. When you initially turn the key to run, you should be able to hear a buzz noise for 2 seconds coming from behind the seat. That's the fuel pump. No buzz, no fuel. Next time it acts up, cycle the key on-off to listen if the pump is priming. dj
