The Caterham R500 is the latest car in the power-to-weight wars between Caterham and Westfield, both British Lotus seven derivative sports cars.
The R500 is certainly fast, and would be great as a auto-X only car, but these are among the most bare-bones cars out there, and are so stripped of any amenities as to make a Viper feel like a Rolls Royce in comparison.

As much as I like the Lotus 7 design, I REALLY love the looks of their Caterham 21

For the 500 they offer.

Curiously for what is beyond all doubt a drivers' car, Caterham have included the option of launch control to "further improve the Superlight R500 in extreme conditions".

Simon Nearn, Caterham's Managing Director comments "We are offering traction control to feed the power in smoothly at take off, with the added benefit of increased adhesion though corners, especially in the wet."
