Averted. While doing a bolt check prior to this weekends' auto-x, I found that the one of the straps on the left outer u-joint was loose enough to rattle by hand. Both of the bolts had backed out a couple of turns,
not sure how long it had been like this, there were no indications while driving, noise or vibration, nothing.
Cleaned the threads well, put some loc-tite on and checked every other suspension nut and bolt I could see, but found nothing else.
I had thought of not even bothering to have the rear wheels off, but had noticed a bit of grease had seeped around a couple of the ball joint boots and wanted to clean that up before it got all over the inside of the rims. I guess it pays to be fussy.
A word to the wise, get under your car once in awhile.
