You're joking, right? The wife and I have plans to go to Texas for the two week shut down. And this shut down happens every year at CAAP.

dont get yourselves all worked up.....its standard practice. nothing is going wrong. they do that for scheduled maintenance and to prepare for the next years building of vehicles. just calm down, and catch your breath. the media just gets a story like this and the world is going to end....with all the panic they cause.........jeesh.

This is NOT for typical plant down time. ALL Chryler operations will be shut down, all salaried and hourly workers are forced to take vacation. Even the Chrysler Technology Center in Auburn Hills will be closed. Everything is planned to come to a halt.

This is not for model change over; it's to save money.

all salaried and hourly workers are forced to take vacation.

Hourly maintenance workers usually continue working during these shutdowns, especially if there are contractors in the plants doing some things. I haven't heard anything specific about this year yet.

Not all chrysler plants will shut down for 2 weeks. BAP will only be down for 1 week and Jeff is correct that Skilled Trades workers usually work all shutdowns.
