Putting the horsepower difference aside, who thinks the design of the Chrysler Firepower is more of a proper evolved successor to the GTS? Also,if you put a supercharger on the 425HP hemi slated to be in the vehicle ( which is rumored to be happening to the engine next year as an option), the Firepower should put out over 550HP. Comments please.

Chrysler Group takes aim at some of America's most treasured sports coupes with the Firepower, one of two promising concept vehicles that will debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month.

Derived from the Dodge Viper platform, the Firepower (a working name that could be replaced) steals cues from the radical ME Four-Twelve concept car and Crossfire coupe/roadster. Chrysler design chief Trevor Creed says Firepower is Chrysler's “Corvette fighter.”

The long hood highlights Firepower's 6.1L Hemi V-8 that develops 425 hp.

Another concept, the Jeep Gladiator, harkens back to the 1960s, when the production Gladiator pickup roamed the nation's back roads and highways. Gladiator is based on a unique platform.

No, I do not think it will or can replace the GTS, nor is it properly evolved into anything other than a stretched crossfire with a bigger engine.
Besides it's a Chrysler product and not Dodge, it is Chrysler's attempt at building a Vette Killer.

I'd take the Firepower.

Janni, What has changed your mind on the SRT Vipers? I thought for some time you thought the SRT-10 was the second coming. :usa:

Nope - I LOVED the brakes and handling on the SRT. And on paper it is entirely a better car. No question.

But it lacked a quality in my GTS - call it presence or a "wild child" personality. I found it almost lulling to drive - I'd talk on the phone in it, found myself wanting things like Homelink, etc. Part of that may have been I was trying it as a daily driver - but I drove my GTS some as a DD too - and I NEVER would have thought about that. I loved the way the GTS always felt like a horse trying to take the bit and run - prancing a little sideways - always keeping you on your toes. Untamed if you will - but if you got it right - it meant more. The SRT never felt that way - even though it was "better"...

So, the SRT is gone in an effort to put Henry in a Comp Coupe.... One race car left to sell and we'll be CC owners.
