Personally, I'd change that Camaro-looking shift-knob. <grin>

That was the first thing to go in my GTS. I have it sitting on my desk at work.

I should keep it by my bed at night. If the house is burglarized, I'll ***** someone over the head with the stock shift knob.

I've had the Gripper and the First Strike knob from MGW. My favorite is the Gripper.

The boot is retained by "ears" that bend over the backside of the bezel...it is very possible that during your procedure, it worked it's way loose.

I have had the "old" Jan. 2001 gripper shift knob and i now have the "new" June 2001 knob and is much much better... even shorter.
and the diameter is larger ( not too large but just right) MGW has simply made the knob right and it comes with the snakehead logo only.. but you can get the ashtray with the 6 speed pattern
i have them in the satin finish and they look great with the a/c knobs and glovebox.. i love MGW stuff!!
