Looking to freshen up some bolts/parts this winter, has anyone used the hobbyist powder coating systems?Looks pretty easy if it works my poor family will have to put up with me powder coating everything!
I've had car parts powder coated for several decades now, and would never attempt a DIY approach. But then again, I have easy access to professional services.
Are you looking to save $$$? Bored? Suicidal?
Call 911 for the latter, and realize that what you'll save in the wallet will be spent learning a new skill at the expense of your marriage. "Hey honey, skip the roast for Sunday dinner and pick up Wendy's while my valve covers bake!"
DIY powder coating is EASY! Got my kit from Eastwood. You will need a electric oven to bake the parts in. You will also need your own sand-blaster or access to one.
Buy a cheap electric oven off craigslist, put it in the garage and your 90% there. Practice with some non-essential bolts and pieces and you'll be on your way.
Thanks all and Dave yes I am suicidal around January after two months of not driving!!!!
Access to the sand blaster could be problematic but I think its doable
