Did you get the VIN so you can look up a Carfax? Is it at a dealership where you can ask for the previous owner's name and number? I'm always wary when I see outright sales, and would prefer to talk to the previous owner (get all their maintenance records, service done, mods added)...just my .02. ~juli~

Yes I do have VIN and I plan on running it. If still interested I plan on calling Chuck as well. He's very helpful. He has helped me on more than one occasion.

I have asked the dealer to contact the previous owner and ask that we chat. They did not want to give up his name due to privacy issues. Made me suspicious to say the least.

It wasn't so much what he said, but more about the way he said it. He hesitated too much. Made me think twice is all. Actually I totally understand it. I just think my guard was already up based on other things he said as well. Either way I am always careful when looking at costly transactions that are so far away.

WOT: Definitely call Chuck---he IS THE MAN---EXtremely helpful, we've never met anyone more knowledgeable and so willing to share his knowledge and experience. I wouldn't be suspicious if the dealer didn't want to give out the previous owners' name, as long as they were gonna contact him/her and have them contact you. Good Luck~ juli

what is the stigma with FL cars. If it was rebuilt, it will be well documented. Please advise is there is a known loophole that exists.

Florida(especially south Florida), used to be known as an easy state to "wash" titles, that had salvage/flood history.. There was a high-end dealer in Lauderdale who got shut down in the 90's for washing Ferraris,Lambos,etc.. Huge "bust". Im sure you know who Im talking about.

I think they have since closed any loop holes. From what I hear, Florida is now one of the toughest states. And since the evolution of Carfax,etc..

I agree with your comment. I would not be worried about a Florida car one bit. Title washing is all but impossible now.
