end of side-pipe

Hi there,

i have these little things on the end of my side-pipes to make them look a bit bigger. I want them off, because it's not original and completely redundant.

I managed to get the bolt loose and thought I could just take them of now, but the original end of my exhaust is getting a tiny bit wider at the and, so it seems I have to take it of backwards. In order to do so I have to take of my skirt, which I don't mind, but i don't know for sure if it's possible to take the end off from the muffler to slide them off the other way.

Can someone confirm that it's possible to take it off this way and when it is possible to take the last bit of pipe loose from the muffler, do I need a gasket or is it only sliding and screwing?

I saw that once and the stock exhaust was larger at the end. I believe it's for slightly better flow and looks.

The chrome piece is probably stainless (like the one I saw) but if yours is polished aluminium you could break it off.

Stainless could be cut off with a cutoff bit, die grinder, etc. To make sure that you don't damage the car you probably want to remove the side skirts first.

If you're not worried about the "things" cutting them off is the best policy.

I did allready think of that, but somebody has ever putt them on there in one piece, so that's why I thought it might be possible to do so the other way around. When I start cutting I might also damage the end pipe!

The car is in my garage, which is not next to my house, so I am not able to make pictures right now.
