Engine differences.. 96-99 vs. 00-02

Hi..

I know this has been mentioned in various posts, but I would like to know in more details.. I have tried searching on the subject but haven't found any explanations.

Forged pistons are better than the cast pistons because they are stronger.. or?
The 708 camshaft in the early models are better.. because?
Are there any other major differences?

Forgive me if it HAVE been explained! Then I just couldn't find it..

Forged is stronger than cast.

Lots of confusion about the camshaft. I believe the biggest change was the duration. Made because a lot of sissies didn't like the "lopiness" and rough idle of a true muscle car.
